That was boring. Simply because everything that was discussed has already been dissected here on this board down to the minutia.
I think you miss the grander point though, for those 4/45 ish core to work, you need two guys around what Asik and Lin to be paid at, now, of course, are they good enough at that money is a question, and Lin was somewhat on the grey area this year. but the problem is, sure fired guys aren't going to be had at 8M either , so those are generally going to be gambles to some extend. and Lin's not a bad one who may or may not pan out. and at a 3 year deal, if it doesn't pan out, the flexibility to shift gear is there.
Yes there is, but would require taking up risk that the team almost certainly wont' take. such as Trading away Lin and Asik (or Harden lulz) BEFORE they make official offers to both. With Dwight, until he finish signing his name on the dotted line and his hands have left the paper, it's not a guarentee of anything, with Paul, I just don't see it, he literally can run the Clippers, if you can pick your own coach and teammates , why go to another team for less money where you won't have that much freedom?
what's up with freedom if you get kicked out first round every year? you can name the players you want, but still takes a good management team to get them. If we can use the cap space to sign one of them first, then work out some understanding with the other before we trade away our pieces to make room, it could get done, right?
Well, that would be a plausible view from the outside, but for a player who think they're the best (and Chris Paul both have the right to, and from reports on his personality, the probability of), it would not be implausible for him to think that he can make the best decisions for himself to achieve his goal, so obviously the more he can decide, the better. As for signing one first then agree with the other... yeah it is POSSIBLE, just not LIKELY, because the window here is very small, most of these signings are finished 10 days into FA, you have a little more than a week to pull off 2 mega signing and 2-3 significant trades. and that's assuming you have full trust of the 2nd player's good faith, which in the case of Howard, is hugely doubtful at best. and unless the cap goes up a little more than we expect, one or both would have to take a least a little pay cut even if we move out Robinson / Lin / Asik At the end of the day, we're in position to do it, but it would be highly unwise to bank on it.
Really enjoyed Rockets Live!! This is off subject-but I'm a fairly new member of Clutchfans and every time I try to look at other posts by other members-I get a message that I'm not authorized and to contact administrator-which is you-right? Thanks so much and your work is really appreciated!!
Well, then sorry to let you all down. I'm sorry you feel that way. It seems like most others don't share this sentiment. You obviously have a fairly high level of understanding of much of this stuff, but most others either (A) don't have your level of CBA knowledge or (B) haven't been able to collect the various nuggets of information that are located across countless threads in the BBS. Also, maybe the questions being asked weren't to your liking, but there's not a tremendous amount of information I can add that will be earth-shattering or otherwise "exciting" to most viewers/listeners. It's not like I have a bunch of inside information or anything. Hey, you can't please everybody! (Also, I know you didn't mean that as a knock against me. I just don't know what we could have done differently that would have made this much more enjoyable for you.) Who? Me??? Hey, man. I'm just a contributing writer to the site. The guy you need to contact is Clutch. This is all HIS baby.
just joshing you bro I need to watch but work has been crazy lately...maybe tonight since Memorial Day is 2morrow---I know you do a good job
Hey Bima, great work as always. Even though I read just about every cap post available on Clutchfans and look up the CBA FAQ frequently I know there is always more to learn. Even when you were asked questions I thought I knew, I still tried to answer them before you did to see whether I was right or not. I really enjoy your contributions to the Clutchfans/Rockets community and I dare say one day I'm sure you'll be scooped up by a forward thinking team. Keep it up mate!
