Jesus.... And I was at the game this year where we scored 69 points, but beat the Thunder. I can't believe that was only 3 more than a franchise low, and it resulted in a win.
[tangent] The Sonics were so much fun to hate with The X Man and Chambers in the 80's and Payton and Kemp in the 90's. They ALWAYS gave us trouble. I really wish they were still in Seattle. [/tangent]
This has to be it. The 40 point game 7 annihilation was just dreadful. Honorable mention has to go to the 1997 Jazz shot where Karl Malone fouled the crap out of Clyde to give Stockton the wide open game winner. I have to go with the 40 point drubbing though, as the Rockets just laid an egg from the first minute.
I was with my friend at his ranch watching that game drinking a bottle of crown... as soon as the final whistle blew... we got up and got in a big fight because we were both so mad.... the next morning I was still so mad that I woke my buddy up with a fist to the face
Game 7 of the 2009 series doesnt even sting that much simply thefact we were down our 2 franchise players.
Man, this reminded me of how much I hated Terry before he came to the Rockets. I remember fantasizing about being somewhere with a sniper rifle and sniping him every time he got the ball. Now I love the guy!
The Streak was book-ended by an equally heart-breaking loss by 20+ pts to the Celtics, but it was their year to win it all.
When you get kicked by 40 points, I'm not sure you can blame the refs. http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/200505070DAL.html
