I'd prefer not to talk about how I know this because I'm not sure if these things are supposed to go on a message board. I'm sure Clutch will get this information at some point and he can verify what I say to be accurate.
I was curious if you got to watch. Fortunes of life have landed me in Maverick hell and I can never get anything but biased Rocket hand me downs up here. A freind turned me on to CF when I lived in PA where they weren't sure we even had a team in Houston. I used to see and hear a lot of this stuff first hand in my days of hanging around Fonde and Hoffienz in my youth and thought you might have came across it the same way!
Hell, I can't believe no one has said this yet, but thanks man! We appreciate as much information as we can get - the more details the better.
Who is Chris Thomas? I think in years to come that Daniel Ewing will be playing the point in the NBA-- maybe valuable backup only but playing the point. He is tenacious and under-rated. Plus he's a Texan and a Dookie...
Chris Thomas is the pg out of Notre Dame. I would love it if we got him here as an undrafted free agent or picked up a 2nd to get him. The thing I don't like about one on one drill is that it doesn't translate how well you can run a team offense or a fast break or anything like that. I'm sure there are plenty of streetballers that are great one on one players, but that's not what I want on the team.
Thanks for the info KAS13. Bogey's observation about 1-on-1 drills has me wondering whether there's a way (other than watching tape of college/HS games) for the Rockets to evaluate the floor leadership ability of a player.
I would like to see Daniel Ewing come here. Its a long shot, but hey it could happen. Hell, if not here, would be awesome to see him on the Bucks to be reunited with TJ Ford.
"nutting up" mean to put your nuts on the line. iow, to be corageously take on a task - same as 'cowboy up"
True, but more than any other position, you are on an island at PG. If you can't handle the on ball pressure from the defender, you don't belong in the league. One on one drills are a good way to find out if you deserve the invite to try and run a team. If you can't get past your man, you won't have the chance to set up and run a play.
KAS13, many thanks for the inside scoop and please keep them coming. I laughed out loud at your clever use of the word "throat". It brought back memories of an old John Holmes movie I saw back in the day.
Good point! Someone that can bring the ball up the court with tight full court pressure is something we desparately need. Besides gaurding Dirk, having to bring the ball up the court just added to T-Mac exhaustion towards the end of games.
"Nutting up" could refer to what T-Mac did to Bradley. Cowboyed him up like Tom Archer is saying. See my sig
