Mihm is going to be a bust. Seriously, has there EVER been a white center of star-caliber in recent history? I mean, Divac is okay, but he's certainly not as good as 'Zo, Shaq, Dream, Ewing, D. Robinson, or any of the other black centers in the league. Ilgauskas? Too fragile.. Big Country? Big Meathead.. Muresan? Don't make me laugh.. Ostertag? Yeah right.. ------------------
I don't know. I kind of think of him as Raef Lafrentz. Seems like exactly the kind of center we need. I don't know if I take him first in the draft but I wouldn't be too upset to have him on my team. ------------------
Not being a UT fan or a UT hater I can honestly say that I don't think Mihm will be a star but I don't think he will be a bust. He will be your average run of the mill center maybe even better than average considering the quality or lack of quality in the NBA today. He has size so that helps and already gives you an advantage over about a 1/2 or so teams. He already has an NBA body and he does have skills. He will be able to handle the Ostertags of the world but will never be able to compete with the elite centers of the NBA. That being said would I pick him with our pick? No, not a chance. There are more important pieces to the puzzle. By the way this post has just officially passed Popeye's "Houston getting serious about draft" topic. ------------------
How about this just to throw something out... Rockets gets: Austin Croshere and Clips pick Clips gets: Rockets pick, Cato, and Mark Jackson Indiana gets: Mo Taylor Or some combination like this. BTW, Mihm is a stiff, IMO. http://jonathanbender.8m.com http://alharrington.8m.com ------------------ [This message has been edited by Speed (edited May 19, 2000).]
okay, I know Mihm is not going to be a star. I have no illusions about that. He will stay out of the middle on offense and keep his man out of the lane. If his man goes, Mihm will have easy baseline and top of the key jumpers all night. I don't think he is better than Swift, but it has been widely speculated that Cato is here no more. We should concentrate on getting Rashard home. That is your 2nd superstar. The next Stockton to Malone........ugh, sorry. Except with a more powerful supporting cast. ------------------
Sorry to go off topic a bit, but I have a question for Speed. Are the Pacers planning on giving Bender major PT next yr or is that totally predicatd on whether or not they start re-building. When people start labelling players as the next coming of Garnett I usually think its overhyped. However, Bender is the one guy I think really deserves this comparison. If you read the commentary on Speed's site you'll see why. A 7 footer with long arms, excellent athleticism and legit 3 pt shooting range is crazy. I remember Larry Bird saying something like "this kid has so many skills its mind boggling". It bothers me that the Rockets could have had him had they made the Olajuwon deal but thats another discussion. I am really interested to see how Bender does in the NBA. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net
When I grew up I thought Santa Claus was the best. During college, after I took some philosophy classes I realized he wasn't real. But, later...in...I mean...when...what did you say...I mean...ok...i'm next... I mean, when I thought about it more...Santa Claus on Speed IS the 7' tall Super Hero. I always thought I was hallucinating...but now I know Speed, Is Santa Claus Cato IS 7' tall And Speed will give us Croshere and the Clipper's #1.
Mihm is a bust waiting to happen. Hanno Mettola lit him up for 30+ last season in Utah. I hope Chicago takes Mihm and leaves Martin, Swift, and Fizer alone. Of course, those are all 4's and with Elton in the fold they'll probably take Mihm anyway. ------------------ There are three kinds of people in the world... those who can count and those who can't.
How did this thread see a re-birth? RocketSiv -- I still can't say anything, and the way things are going it doesn't look like I can for a while. I think, if you put two and two together, that should tell you the player I'm referring to. ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET
he´s a talking about brian the hit man grant! (rasheed has an out clause if the blazers win everything by the way) p.s. the rockets had better be working on something, and quit wasting all of our tax dollars. achebe 3:16 ------------------
If it's a player still in the playoffs, I think it has to be one of three guys: Austin Croshere Marcus Camby Brian Grant Of course we will have to wait and see, but judging from everything Clutch had said, I think it has to be one of these three guys. And by Clutch saying it looks like he may not can say for a while, and it being a young but non-exciting player, I am beginning to think it's Croshere. ------------------
I still can't say anything, and the way things are going it doesn't look like I can for a while Come on, guys, pay attention. ------------------
I am going on the record saying it is not Brian Grant. Don't get me wrong, I'd like to have the guy, but at his salary? FORGET IT! The guy is making buko-dollars in the next few years. No way the Rocks make a trade for someone that will swallow salary cap space, unless it is a significant superstar. HP, are you making that up? Where did you hear this? ------------------ We need some meat in the post!
I'm thinking the player's jersey number is either 22 or 4... ------------------ "It's always funny until someone gets hurt...and then it's just hilarious." -Faith No More
