It is not Austin Croshere, Tim Thomas, or Rashard Lewis. Each of these three guys got starter minutes in the playoffs and have produced. Their teams can match the Rocks' offer, so this is a no brainer.

Free agents can not sign before around July 21, so I think the player has to be in a contract with his current team for next year, at least.

My guess is that this player is a 4, 4/5, or 5 who is a bench player for his current team and would also be a bench player for the Rocks.

I suspect that the trade on the Rocks side would invlove Drew and some part of the $4.5 M trade exception.

My best guess would be Kandi.

Camby is at best a minor upgrade over Cato. My vote is for Bo Outlaw. It doesn't have to be a playoff guy ... isn't there a rule that no trades can be made between the end of the trading deadline and the end of the playoffs?

It's gotta be Karim Shabazz! Who doesn't want the next Keith Closs? ESPN reports that he's gonna come out this year.

Not only is he a 7 footer, but he's 7'2''!

    Ricealum...

Camby is a big upgrade on Cato. Off the bench in limited minutes, Camby averaged 9 rebounds a game this year. Cato had tons of games this year where he would play 30 minutes and grab two or three boards. Also, Camby has much more offense than Cato. Camby has the footwork and the jump hook in addition to athletism. All Cato is equal to Camby in is athletism. In terms of defense, rebounding, offense, etc., Camby is way ahead.

I'm thinking that it's DANNY FORTSON. Boston was trying to get rid of him all year, and for cheap too. He might even sign for our exception. He's what the Rockets need at power forward: a tough rebounding machine. I bet it's him.

Danny Fortson seems like our type pf player- but remember, like Clutch hinted, it is probably someone in the playoffs. My guess is Camby or Croshere.

speaking of Shabazz.. My highschool played against his a few years ago. He was Huge!!! you shoulda seen his teammates though-- they looked like local kids from the YMCA. Kinda like that Brian Grant nba team-up commercial?

    Alright..enough enough.

All I've got to say, if it is Danny Fortson, I'm going to have one hell of a fun night with my DSL line, that will probably stretch on into the morning. Good thing it reaches the bathroom, now.

I would be interested in Danny Fortson only on a couple of conditions. First off, he would have to be willing to play the role of a 6th man and getting around 28 MPG off the bench. In his second season, Fortson averaged 11 PPG and 11.6 RPG in 28.3 MPG. If he is willing to play a 6th man role with those types of mins I'd do it. However, if he is demanding a starting role as the starting PF, I would not be interested as the Rockets need a much better starting PF. Also, I would not want Thomas and Fortson on the team together as they are both undersized and the last thing the Rockets need is a small frontcourt. The tendency is of going towards three guard lineups of Francis-Mobley-Anderson and such. For that to work, a much bigger and taller frontcourt is needed to cover up for size deficiencies. If the Rockets are planning to use KT as trade bait to move up in the draft, then this acquisition of Fortson would be ideal. If they are planning to hold onto KT, I just dont see it working.

    heypartner,

People used to take a Sears catalog to the privy. Now they take a DSL line instead.

    Remember three things about Fortson,

    1. He has a legendary, out-of-proportion wing-span like Brand,

    2. He prooved it by being the 4th leading rebounder playing center for an injured Raef La Frenz and being regarded as a pain in Malone's ass on defense,

    3. Pitino is a dork, making this year an anomaly for Fortson.

IMO, Fortson is more ready to start than KT. KT off the bench with Mobley and Cato/Hakeem is a very imposing bench. Everyone will get minutes.

Im going to go with Brad Miller from Charlotte. He is a young athletic 7-footer that can really run the court well, he would be a sweet fit with the young rockets. He is a free agent so he could be a possible sign and trade. Rudy has always liked this guy.

The only person so far that seems to fit the "not too exciting" description is Jerome Williams. That would be interesting if all we had to give up was Drew. But aren't the Pistons hurting for big men too?
