I'd rather take a player with less talent that plays hard every night than a very talented player who floats and lacks focus for any amount of time during a game. Him getting benched so often for this reason shows a serious maturity issue. The team playing at its best with the most "talented" player benched speaks volumes. PASS!
Didn't really want to start a new thread, but this is interesting. http://draftexpress.com/workout.php?sort=0&pid=0&tid=17 According to that list, Ager is the first player we've brought in a for a second workout. Does anyone typically know how many times a player might work out for a team if that team is truly interested?
Interesting, lost_elephant, but it could mean a couple of different things. It could mean we really like Ager a lot, or it could mean that other players that are higher on our list are scheduled with other teams and simply can't make it in. This could especially be the case since the pre-draft camp in Orlando is just a week away and players might be trying to hit as many teams as possible in the meantime. Then there's the possibility that some of the guys we've already worked out were so impressive that we didn't feel the need to see anymore from them. It most certainly means one thing though: We didn't NOT like Ager when we had him in the first time. If he's the guy, I sure hope we move down and get another pick, maybe late 1st round. Possibilities are 20 and 29 from New York for our 8, or 21 and 27 for our 8 from Phoenix.
I don't think you can move down that far for Ager. His draft stock seems to be climbing. I'm looking more at NOLA at 12 and 15. That's a lot for just the #8, but if someone they really like falls to our pick (Tyrus Thomas?), they might go for it.
Yeah, I was thinking that as I was posting, but those are the only two teams that have two later first rounders (just now noticed the Nets have 22 and 23). Maybe something more reasonable in terms of grabbing Ager would be our #8 for Orlando's 11 and 41. We could possibly pull off something like this... 11 - Ager 32 - Novak 41 - Gansey (I'm holding out hope that he could be our Bob Sura replacement "glue" guy) I like those 3, but the only problem I have is that Van Gundy may have a hard enough time convincing himself to give our TOP pick a legitimate role, much less a couple of second rounders. In that sense, how much would that extra pick really help us?
A bad shooter who likes to shoot...not a good combination. Unless he's got Dwayne Wade freakish athleticism.
Carney does have freakish athleticism like Wade but doesn't have the playmaking abilities like him, vey few do. But I wouldn't call Carney a bad shooter, 43% FG 40% 3-pt isn't all that bad, but like most have said, he can be a streaky shooter.
a recap of a workout that features Marcus Williams and ... Jay Williams ! http://www.draftexpress.com/viewarticle.php?a=1321 i think we should give this guy a chance ... with our draft picks + Jay Williams, the holes around Yao and T-Mac would be filled ... but it seems that many teams have shown interest in him ... grrrrr
Is it me, or does draftexpress not really ever say anything really negative about any of the prospects they see. From reading their recent articles, it seems like you could put together a team of Jay Williams, Marcus Williams, Rudy Gay, Guillermo Diaz, Shawne Williams (geez there are a lot of Williams out there) and win championships for the next decade. I guess their mock draft is where they are differentiating between talent.
