I thought Rockets is in a Win-Now mode. How come we are testing out on unproven player? This is really a contradiction on what CD had been saying.
I am sure working out young unproven players is one of the necessary and routine pieces in every pro-team, even though it's NOT for now.
Well i can shoot better then Bowen does that count ... i can hit 5 of 10 of the open jumper from 10 feet out.. bowen cant do that.... Gods honest truth
if he doesnt get picked up by the rockets, i hope he has a good future cause what happened with his dad was pure BS.
That dunk compilation was EXTREME lol. Dude attacks the rim like he's taking out the frustrations with his father. He's probably not worthy of a roster spot though.
A couple of different things here. One: trying out all these guards, before and after the draft. Makes you wonder if (hope that?) we have something in the works to shore up our PF/backup C spot, depleting us of guards.... And if we're working out these people---diamonds in the rough, I suppose---I really hope Luther Head can sell his house or condo or townhome or whatever REAL fast. Not that he's hurting for money, but I doubt we'll ever see him play for the Rockets again. EDIT: There was a 60 Minutes story years ago, and I've had some personal experience....don't know what it is about Nigerians, but corruption is the national pasttime.
If the Rockets are going to work out undrafted FAs, I really wish they would give Rashard Anderson a look. It is very possible that he is already with a team, but if he is not, then the Rockets need to look at this kid. He is a lights out shooter from the 3 point line (at least the college 3 point line) and he comes from a proven program in UConn. Maybe it is his defense and/or attitude or something else that has caused him to go undrafted, but he can't be any worse off than Azubuike (sp?).
From what I remember about Azubuike, he needed major work on his ball-handling. He had all the rest of the tools, but unless he did some major work on his ball-handling, he's just a really strong, really athletic catch-and-shoot guard.
Draftexpress.com, on Kelenna's weaknesses: Sounds awefully familiar to the knock on Rudy Gay. Then again, we are talking about a project guy here, not the 8th pick. His D League performance was pretty goood: http://www.nba.com/dleague/playerfile/kelenna_azubuike/index.html
These are the kind of guys the Rockets need to be looking at. Dallas brings in these kind of guys every year. You can never have enough athletes on your team.
Agreed, I'd be bringing these guys in by the bus load, i'd fill up my D league team with prospects, I'd acquire as many 2nd round picks as possible and draft tons of Euro's to keep over seas.
I say sign him. We paid Swift 5 mil last year and it was almost worth it just to have one spectacular dunk per game. give this guy the minimum and he'll do the same. i dont care anyone says but nothing gets the crowd up more at TC than a mean slam. I mean they're worried about the energy level during games, you'd think theyd realize that its important to have more than 2 players (yao and t-mac) that can dunk in one nba team.
Imagine if we could have added Hakim Warrick in the Battoer deal. Energy and Flashy Dunks wouldn't be an issue!
From Boki to Buike... I like it... wait... I hope this one turns out better. All I saw were a bunch of dunks. I didn't see anything else the guy can do. But... it does seem an upgrade in athleticism. Deshawn Stevenson had athleticism coming out of high school, too.
