I am disturbed at the notion that we are locked into the 7th seed. If the Lakers can win 10 in a row, as well as the Heat winning 6 in a row, well, anything can happen.

Let's just wait and see where we stand after Sunday. If the magic number is still 4 after Sunday's games, watch out.

I've had this signature since November of 2003, and it hasn't been changed since. But the Rockets have lost 6 out of their last 9, and the three victories have been in overtime. I'm sorry, but they have not convinced me of anything, sad to say.

The thing that bothers me is, although it was the Lakers and their great players, I don't feel that their talent is that much superior to the Rox. As a matter of fact, this lineup is, on paper, one of the best in the West. But that's the problem. On paper.

Exactly! I believe Kings and Wolves played even more poorly than us in the past 2 games against the Fakers.

If Wolves cannot get out of the 1st round by 7 tries, why should we be disappointed or shameful if we lose in 1st round?

we are the kings of stupid plays; the alley play on the fast break we had 3 on 1 for a sure 2 points and instead of just laying it up for the easy duece steve had to try his fancy stuff, and when the fakers knocked the ball out steve and his boyfriend cutturnover just laughed about it, and dont even get me started on steves little cell phone act

we had them on the ropes..we kept them in check, but kept up with our usual unforced error syndrome...you know:

The phathom ball flying off the leg or the behind the back pass to the defender or the toss the ball back to the defender or the falling out of bounds to save an errant rebound or pass and then throw it right to a defender routine or the dribble continuously then slip and fall, or the 3 on 1 fast break charging call or the pass to no one deal or the Francis caugh in the air and no where to go routine....

These happen every single game and these result in major points ont he other end most of the time...

I think this team has the talent to go deep in the playoffs, but until they quit hurting themselves with this crap unforced error routine, they will never do much...

I am just shocked that this happens with vetran players like Jackson and Francis still

From what I'm seeing, that should present no problem for them come playoff time.

Word here in Dallas is that Nash is most likely headed back to Canada to play for Toronto.

The Rockets could easily lose their final eight games and not even make the playoffs...

Either way, this team needs major changes if they want to avoid the dreaded syndrome known as eternal mediocrity...

That's going out on a limb. A 7th seed isn't expected to get past the first round, are they?

I'd be happy just seeing a well played first round, hopefully a couple wins. Anything better than that will be the whipped cream on top.

Before you can win or lose in the playoffs, you have to BE IN the playoffs, and that is still not a certainty. The schedule is brutal.

DaDakota, this team is missing a young, hot-shooting, playmaker; doesn't need to be an All Star, just consistent and careful. Also a brutish, sure-shooting, rebounding-machine PF would help. Keep Ming, JJackson, and Mobley (and maybe even Spoon, he is steady, makes smart decisions, I like him).

I agree with some of the other posters here.

We still have to get to he playoffs before we can talk about losing or winning in the playoffs.

I propose a moratorium on talk about the playoffs until the magic number is "0".

The Rox will indeed probably bow out in the first round. But a first-round exit doesn't mean the season was a bust, or even a disappointment. We simply aren't as good (yet) as the Kings, Spurs, or Lakers, and should not be disappointed if we lose a best-of-7 series to one of them.

OTOH, I'm not saying that it's all good if we simply make the playoffs, just that "first round exit" is the wrong metric. The Rockets could go on a winning tear, finish sixth, and take the T-Wolves to seven games. Or they could hit the skids, barely get the 8th seed, and lose in four to the Lakers. First-round exit either way, yet a big difference between the two outcomes.

(obviously, not making the playoffs at all would be a catastrophe and grounds for major changes)

We can easily lose the next 8 games against Denver (twice), Sacramento, Golden State, LA Clippers, Utah, Seattle, and Dallas? I'll call Sacramento and Dallas likely losses. I don't see how we're likely to lose all the other 6 though.

This thread is funny. It is another of those Rockets-can-do-no-right-because-they-just-lost-last-night threads, but you're pessimistically predicting something that should be assumed anyway. How is a 7th seed team going to beat the division winner anyway? It happens occassionally, but it isn't likely. Even in our headiest moments, I've known we're not beating the Timberwolves in the first round. Why is it some kind of failure and embarrassment to not do so? We weren't even in the playoffs last year. We're only 7th seed this year. You've let your expectations get way out of control.

I know, I must have missed the memo where it became cool to predict losses to the Clippers in order to keep us from going to the playoffs...

A Train you have just hit the BIG BUTTON- Let the Truth be told!!
But the big question is will the Rockets management be courageous
    enough to make the moves?
