Peja thrived in that motion offense a few years ago. They've run the Princeton offense for years. Peja didn't need to create his own shot. The problem now is their team chemistry is messed up. Plus, Peja and Bibby haven't stepped up in the absence of Webber. I'm afraid Peja may never be what he was before. I wonder if he's willing to be paid like a #3 option when he signs a contract this summer. StupidMoniker, Peja can't be a starting 4. He would be destroyed on a nightly basis. We need a 4 who can defend and rebound at least sometimes. Peja is one of the softest players in the NBA and he couldn't defend anyone down low if his life depended on it. As a PF, he would make JH & Stro both look like the Incredible Hulk.
I can understand going after Peja. We need that third scoring option. He would fit into the inside-out game that we're trying to create with Apocalypse Yao. His game has suffered since Webber left, to be sure. And he's been playing professionally for awhile now. If signed to a semi-reasonable contract, we might be able to get another good four years out of him. I'd only take him if he's re-signed and traded; we can't risk losing him for nothing. P.S. I think his "back problems" probably have something to do with his being on the trading block.
I would rather have neither, but you state the down side to Peja, you conveniently leave out the HUGE downside to Mr. Artest.
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ap-kings-stojakovicout&prov=ap&type=lgns Do we really need another one of these???
As everyone stated he will be an UFA after the season. He also mentions about playing for the Bulls next year. Anybody trading for him will get some cap space, but it may not help us sign a FA since we are over the cap.
what we really need is a good shooter. I think he is definitely fit for this team. The question mark is his health.
I have him on my fantasy team and hes killing me right now. Hes not the man he once was. I hope we don't get him.
i would trade anyone outside of yao, tmac, stro, head, and our pick. anyone who wouldn't accept a deal for peja involving other players needs to wake up and look at our season. if they are giving him away for ending contracts and future picks then we have to do it.
How about Peja and Artest? They can get the rocks into the playoffs by themselves. That way, McGrady can rest his back until playoff time and Yao can work on his game until then.
Peja has a protruding disc in his back. Do we really want another guy with a back problem?? I think not.
The truth is some people have reached a point of no return....they reason that any trade is better than no trade...sad but true!.....GO ROCKETS!!!!!
Peja is damaged goods, one that has lost his great touch and is getting to be old and non athletic, with poor defensive skills. Our team is already full of this situation, so getting Peja would not be wise if we are thinking about rebuilding our team. The management needs to formulate a plan and not keep trying the quick fix.
