So does everyone else still left, right? It was clear from the beginning that we will have to pay some death money.
I seriously doubt that a player can "retire" simply in order to circumvent the waiver wire process. I also seriously doubt anybody will claim him. Houston wants him to be claimed, so they're off the hook with his contract. No team wants to pay a player who isn't even on their roster. Camby was only viewed as an emergency/third string C, anyway. He was not signed to be the second string C if/when Omer Asik gets traded. Camby is old, and cannot be counted on for meaningful minutes. Clearly Reggie Williams will be cut soon, barring a trade.
I feel bad for Camby, but it was the right thing to do. A future coaching role with the Rockets would be awesome, if he doesn't recover to full health.
We have such a good team right now. I don't know mang, Camby being cut shouldn't have been that big of a shocker considering his run in NY last year and his immediate injury this year.

You seem to forget that the Knicks got Camby last year for the very same reason. What did he do for them? He played 24 regular season games and 3 minutes total in 3 playoff games. What did he do for the Rockets in 2012? Sure he was impressive in 19 games, but what was our record in those 19 games? It was (9-10) and (1-6) in the last 7 games. Clearly we were expecting way more from him than we should've.
I knew Camby was gonna get cut...This team needs as many healthy bodies, and Im sure the Rockets will find a way to get him back on the roster once he's healed...
