Good, though it pisses me off he didn't keep in shape last year prior to NY training camp, because he could've contributed. He showed that in the end of 2012 with us. Too bad. This means we keep AB & Brewer
One thing to note: Camby has to go through the waiver process. Given that he is on a minimum salary contract, another team can claim him off waivers and keep him on their roster. I doubt this happens, though, since he is reported to be having surgery and who knows when/if he will come back later in the season given his age.
Would suck for Camby if he chose us to be near home and he gets claimed by a team like Charlotte or something.
Interesting. Initial thoughts- -I wonder if this means that the front office is planning on keeping Omer for the foreseeable future (or at least through the Summer). Camby was never really in the plans for the first half of the season anyways. He was always projected as an insurance plan once/If Asik gets traded which wouldn't be until February anyways. -Will Camby file for retirement to avoid being picked up off of waivers? You'd have to think teams like Chicago and Miami would claim him pretty quick off of waivers even knowing that he will be out for the first two months of the season. If the team and Camby really want to work together and have the ability to be brought back, I would assume retirement is what needs to be done. It would have to be a much more serious injury for a team like that to not claim him. -Do the coaches and front office feel like D-Mo is doing well enough in preseason minutes as a backup 5 to fall under the category of "insurance in case of injury or trade"?? D-Mo certainly looks the part with the additional pounds put on this Summer. He still lacks some defensive awareness, and has mixed reviews on the rebounding category, but I've seen him go toe to toe in the preseason with the likes of Ian Mahinmi, Dejuan Blair, Ed Davis etc. (who are considered backups for "big" teams), and fair pretty well.
