They'll extend mchale, but not parsons. I think everybody knows what this teams issue is. Either way, good move by not matching.

Yes, as long as DM is here this will continue to be his modus operandi.
The mishandling of the Parsons situation.
He was scared that Parsons will become a UFA,and now he has nothing to show for it.

I understand not giving Dragic the player option helped us the long run
in obtaining Howard, but I bet you another Lin will be chosen over another Dragic because of future flexibility.

As far as not being able to acquire a big free agent, there is nothing he could do about that. However retaining McHale was another mistake. The players deserve the majority of the blame for the Portland loss, but our anemic coaching didn't help us either.

Well, Morey basically said we aren't going for the championship this year.

They really didn't think Howard/Harden/parsons could go anywhere. Wonder how Harden and Howard feel about that.

totally agree, we are not a free agent destination by a long shot, getting Howard was a godsend. But we are wasting Howard prime with 1st round exits. Yeah Parson isn't worth 15 mill a year, but everyone overpays for free agents.

We're going to "Next year!" ourselves until there are no years left.

Agreed. Parsons didn't help out Morey AT ALL...not at all with how quickly he signed his sheet too.

    Morey learned some lessons here.

In the end Parsons isn't worth that much. Ariza won a ring starting at SF, he's not that bad if he just focuses on three and D.

We DO need another ball handler though. That much is true.

This was the right move but this offseason has been trash. Should have never been in this position in the first place. He should have been traded for Rondo last year or not let out of his contract in the first place. I don't want to hear the "in Morey we trust" BS anymore

Ok dude calm down. We signed Dwight Howard *last year* and had Miami not offered a down right insane contract to Bosh that they will be seriously regretting in 2 years we would have him too. Quit acting like the Rockets have been grasping at straws for the last 5 years. 20 other teams in the league would kill to be where we're at.

We replaced Parsons with a player who is pretty darn close to his level (his defense is gonna make a big difference) and have a lot of room left to upgrade the roster in other places. Everything will be fine.

Tough choice but ultimately the right decision.

The signing of a comparable player in Ariza on an infinitely friendlier contract makes it all the more obvious.

    No "Howard" years anyway

I wonder if he was on the phone with Murry today?

The whole point of declining his option was so we wouldn't lose him, and we lost him for nothing. After getting Ariza we can't sign a max guy anyways. Losing Lin, Asik, Parsons and a 1st for Ariza and a 1st seems like a big downgrade. We don't have parsons to trade for rondo, love, etc.

Parson's contract is toxic. Morey doesn't panic and match in order to remain flexible financially. There's no way they would be championship contenders with Parsons making 15m+.

I may end up missing Parsons more than he misses lay-ups...

Stunned. This makes no sense to me. Unless there is another move via trade, we are just wasting Howard's prime.
