1 old buddy was saying CAT wasn't a bad pick in the second round yall dummies seem to not have the ablity to comprehen.

2 CD made the Rice trade to get rid of Rice's contract which Scott Laden gave him in NY(Yall know how bad Scott Layden contracts be look at the Knicks last year). This trade give the Rockets more flexability to get good players from free agency.

exactly, getting below that expected luxury tax threshold was important. phoenix gave up an expiring contract and 2 first round draft picks to get below it.

    GATER,

Your words are true enough but that does not excuse moves such as trading one 1st and two 2nd round picks along with glen rice for a Center that could not even get off of the bench and a trade exception.

    GATER,

That is an unfair statement about Daniels. The Kid performs period and he is doing it against first teams. The Kid has moved ahead of Josh Howard in the Mavs rotation so are what does that say about Howard? I don't think anyone here would deny his talent. Daniels still has to hit the shots, get the rebound, make the correct decissoins and the right pass which he does. If he were on the Hawks or Wizards and putting up those numbers would you then say he is only putting up those numbers because there is no one else to shoot the ball?

Jackson vs. Posey should have been about who made the team better but is wasn't, it was about money. What pisses me off was that Jax is just a conveinient little excuse for trading Posey but the truth is we should have both players on our team right now.

This time last year I held your exact same oppinion but the events of the past off season forced me to re-evaluate my beliefs on Rockets management. I guess objectivity is in the eye of the beholder.

This is a fallacy that should not be repeated by posters as smart as GATER. The actual personelle decision was taking Pike/A Griffin over Posey at a savings of about 2 million this year (escalating). JJ luckily fell in our laps later only after Sac and him decided to part ways. Like Crash says, we easily could have had come out of the offseason with Posey and JJ and still would have saved a lot of money relative to what was expected by making the Rice deal.

This is correct and is a greater problem than our drafting/ evalutating skill level which has pulled some gems mixed in with plenty of lemons. Unfortunately a couple of recent one's (drafting KT, acquiring JP) we let go for money, not due to being inadequate in skil/potentiall assessment.

Agreed, if we don't use the trade exemption in a big way (even if we have to take on substantially more salary) it will be time to divest that much interest in the Rockets as long as the current owner is in place. Basically we traded 3 mid picks (1 late 1st and probably two early 2nds) for a very late 2nd rounder plus lots of money and the trade exemption. We will see if money is ALL the matters to the Rockets brass by September or so. Where is Charlie Thomas by the way.
