I would like to see some draft day trades like this go down: Luther Head to Detroit for Carlos Delfino or Lindsey Hunter and the 15th. Head's great 3pt% might make things a little easier for them to shoot next year, not to mention they were very high on him coming out in the Draft. This is assuming Rodney Stuckey is still on the board. Acie Law is also a possibility here. Rafer, Sura, and Bonzi(assuming he stays) to the Lakers for Kwame and their 19th. They get a decent PG and another scorer to help Kobe for dead weight in Kwame and a pick. We get a much needed PF and take a 3/4 that has fallen a bit (Thaddeus Young, Al Thornton, Julian Wright, or Joakim Noah) to backup or compete for the starting job with Kwame. This is the last year of his contract so we might get his best production. Draft Morris Almond at 26. Contact Mikki Moore and/or Mo Williams about our MLE. Vspan migh need to be included in a possible s&t. Contact the Kings about Artest....Offer Howard, Snyder, and draft picks... possible lineup: 15th/Mo Williams/JL3/(Hunter) Tmac/Almond/Delfino Artest/Battier/Novak Kwame/19th/Hayes Yao/Deke/Moore Now thats what I call blowing up a team!
Dominic McGuire http://www.draftexpress.com/viewprofile.php?p=1162 http://www.fresnobee.com/sports/story/61095.html
I like McGuire too, but is he really the answer at PF? He's only 6'8" and he's not a large presence in the paint, but if he can rebound and block shots in the pros like he did in college, maybe he'd be worth it (assuming Williams is already gone, which is a good possibility)
I second that choice. He is expected to be available on most mock drafts. Morey mentioned him having lottery talent. Great Shot Blocker. He can be the our best pick in years. Yao doesn't count because he was the the #1 pick on every board.
After geting burned by Eddie Griffin I would say Les Alexander would never take the risk of a player with questions like Sean Williams again...but there is new management in place, so maybe. We wouldn't have a chance at a player that could really help if he didn't come with risks.
I didn't see this anywhere, but Chad Ford's Mock Draft 4.0 has us picking: Houston 26. Glen Davis The skinny: Davis has amazing skills for a big guy -- the problem is that he's just so big. If he can keep his weight down, he could end up being a steal this late. I hear the Rockets are also very high on Nevada 's Nick Fazekas. Fazekas is a lights-out shooter and a good rebounder but lacks athleticism. Must be a sabermetrics thing for new GM Daryl Morey. NBADraft.net still has us picking Arron Afflalo - 6-5 215 SG UCLA Jr.
We need a PF...and if we do get a PF it will be sean williams but if we somehow get that adressed before the draft i think we will draft morris almond... in the mock drafts hes going at 30 but i have a feeling he will move up now that he is geting noticed by more teams.
http://www.draftexpress.com/viewarticle.php?a=2132 They also speculated Fazekas might be a Rockets target by connecting Morey's reputation for moneyball and Fazekas being the second best player in draft based on stats.
Say NNOOOO!!! to Sean Williams!! We have Bonzi and are considering Artest. We don't need to draft a bigger than both combined head case!!!!
Bonzi had domestic abuse problems along with drug issues. Artest jumped into the stands starting the worst brawl the NBA has ever seen (if not in all of US sports) and quit the team next season to pursue a rap career. I don't see how being caught with weed is worse than both of those combined. I think Sean Williams would be the best pick at #26 in terms of need and fit. Obviously his character is a concern but if he checks out okay and the Rockets trust him, he would be a great pick as he would most likely have been a lottery pick if he did not get kicked off the team.
If we somehow get a second round pick (V-Span to Dallas) we should pick Bobby Brown. The guy is freakin' quick and attacks the basket and can shoot the rock. Seems to be as good as Mike Conley (but older) to me, just not as exposed. I know we have 3 or 4 pg's already but none of them are as athletic as this guy. I actually wouldn't mind if the Rocks pick him at 26. http://www.draftexpress.com/viewprofile.php?p=561 <object width="410" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://static.si.com/eplayer/sinbadraft/"></param><param name="FlashVars" value="c=Position&p=88717&s=1554297&o=si_07nbadraftEmbed"></param><embed src="http://static.si.com/eplayer/sinbadraft/eplayer.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="410" height="340" FlashVars="c=Position&p=88717&s=1554297&o=si_07nbadraftEmbed"></embed></object> DUNKS <object width="410" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://static.si.com/eplayer/sinbadraft/"></param><param name="FlashVars" value="c=Position&p=88717&s=1554298&o=si_07nbadraftEmbed"></param><embed src="http://static.si.com/eplayer/sinbadraft/eplayer.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="410" height="340" FlashVars="c=Position&p=88717&s=1554298&o=si_07nbadraftEmbed"></embed></object> http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/ba...raft/2007/video/?c=Position&p=88717&s=1554298
hmm i guess it's quite a gamble to pick sean williams, but then again, not likely he'll be there at 26th. Not only this dude got drug problem, but apparently maturity problem too. Sure he got more potential and more athletic than Fazekas, but he can be outta league much sooner too. I'd say Fazekas and davis might be safe picks
Nah man I bet Bobby Brown is too busy with his divorce settlement proceedings with Whitney to be able to focus on basketball.
IMO, assuming they are available at 26: Morris Almond..all day every day, I'd take him if he is still around at 26; Derrick Byars...I can understand the case to be made for taking him; Glen Davis..low post game/rebounder when Yao breaks his foot again & again; Nick Fazekas...two soft bigs is at least one to many in the NBA; Arron Affalo.....we already have players who can't perform in the playoffs; Sean Williams......Just Say No! Any foreigners..given our history , lets just trade the pick instead. Trade up using VSpan, JLIII or Bonzi (in that order) would make me exceedingly happy in this very good draft. Alternatively, I'd be ok with trading VSPan or JLIII for a second round pick too. If Morey can pull off either a trade up or a 2nd rounder this year while keeping Luther Head I'd be most pleased with this off season.
Draft Prospects A couple of guys I'm hoping the Rockets are taking a hard look at are Jared Dudley of BC and Sean Williams formerly of BC. Sean Williams is currently working out with John Lucas trying to repair his image from what I read and he's certainly got the talent and athletiscm to be a very good player and steal at 26 if he falls that low. Would you move up a couple of spots to take a chance on a guy like Sean Williams? Also I love Dudley's back to the basket and midrange game, I'm afraid he's alittle bit of a tweener in size, but he's got skill and I think could immediately help off the bench. He's got alot of basketball experience playing in the Big East and the tournament. Curious as to other Rocket fans takes on these two players in particular?.......
