Some other February notes. Last in pace 2nd in tov% Our dreb% has been slipping and put us at 14th We had he best netrtg We had the best record
Very impressive but my favorite stat during this ween streak is being last or 2nd to last in pace! I mean everyone said we couldn't play playoff basketball because of our pace but we have shown we can run and play slow.
I've seen explanations of the Rockets pace and offense - can someone explain how the Rockets' defense is doing so well?
harden is back in the lineup and this group got used to playing with each other ....this wasnt the same team so its understandable it took them a while
No no, this can't be right. I have grown to HATE Joe Johnson. And MDA's LOVE AFFAIR with Joe Johnson is going to cost us in the playoffs. I read it on Clutchfans. It has to be true
Just some comparisons from this year to last year. per basketball-reference.com ........................16-17 (rank)...........17-18 (rank) ORtg................114.7 (3rd).............115.7 (1st) Pts/gm.............115.3 (3rd).............113.8 (2nd) Pace................100.0 (3rd)..............98.0 (11th) FG%................46.2% (12th)..........46.2% (14th) 3P%................35.7% (15th)...........36.4% (11th) OReb..............10.9 (9th)..................9.1 (23rd) DRtg................109.0 (18th)...........106.7 (7th) Oppon Pt/gm...109.6 (26th).........104.9 (11th) Oppon 3P%.....34.3% (4th)............36.0% (11th) Oppon FG%....46.3% (23rd)..........46.6% (20th) Steals................8.2 (8th)................8.7 (4th) Blks...................4.3 (20th)..............4.6 (21st) DReb................33.5 (15th)............34.4 (13th) ______________________________________ *ORtg is better with 2 ball handlers (Harden/CP3) giving Rockets 48-mins of facilitation with threat of 3-pt shooting surrounding them; but pts/game are down as Pace is less. *Defense has a better DRtg with greater defensive savvy players in Tucker and Luc MaM. Less opponents pts/game. Fraction of an uptick in steals/blocks/DRebs. *I was leaning towards our offense making more baskets, which forces the opposition to take the ball out of bounds more......but the FG% is the same both years 46.2% (FG%). Just chalk it up as a better team this year. Take my word for it. Lol.
I would also like to see an actual analysis of this. As a goober who just watches the games, my opinion is that it's probably due to Chris Paul, Prince Moute, and Trevor Ariza being wicked good in the passing lanes. Deflections everywhere, no easy passes.
