    Utah has to beat Minnesota tonight or they're done.

    If they beat Minnesota tonight, they have to beat Memphis on Wednesday and hope LA loses to Houston.

    That Memphis/Utah game is the first game on ESPN that night. LA will know right at or shortly before tip-off if they made the playoffs or not.

    Oh, hm, I read somewhere that that was the case. Does LA being a division winner and Denver not give LA the advantage to take the third seed?

    I think McHale will start with this:

    Asik guarding Pau
    Smith guarding Dwight

    Use Smith, Jones, and TRob to implement Hack-a-Dwight, and let Asik take Pau 1-on-1. We have more bigs to throw at the Lakers than GSW did.

    Parsons can hold his own against Metta. The game will come down to how well Lin and Beverly can play against Blake.

    "Tiebreaker: Clippers win any tie; Denver over Memphis"

    Clippers won their division. Nuggets nor Grizzlies did not.

    Division winners own tiebreakers over non-division winners regardless of their season head to head records.

    So I guess it still stands that if Denver loses 1 and LA wins out we would play the Clippers, which is a scenario I would definitely like to see play out!

    gotcha. the Lakers are still in that race as far as I am concerned...

    you have it pretty much summed up. LA would win a tiebreaker with us if they win Wednesday night we were tied. the series would be tied 2-2 and they would clinch the higher seed by virtue of conference record...

    tonight's game is an absolute must win to avoid dropping to the 8th seed.

    I want the season finale on national TV to be win or go home for the Lakers. The drama would be a ton of fun to watch and a chance for our young team to make an impression to a national audience. Also give us a confidence boost for the playoffs.

    We need to win tonight to guarantee 7th seed or higher. That way the final game will be no pressure and we can just play free.
