    no, you're absolutely right.

there's no way we lose a three way tie even if we lose to the Lakers.

Of their six games remaining the Jazz play @GSW, OKC, @Grizzlies. The other three? New Orleans and two against an inspired Timberwolves squad.

I find it difficult to believe the Jazz will go 6-0. Realistically they go 3-3 or 4-2.

The Rockets magic number is 2. Three wins is a statistical guarantee for the play-offs but 2 wins means the Jazz need to go 6-0. What would the Vegas lines look like for the Jazz streaking to make the play-offs? 10000 - 1?

Sorry, guys, for creating the confusion about the magic number last night. Had mistakenly thought the relevant tiebreaker was Western Conference record (Rockets would have the worst WC record of the three teams if tied at 45-37 and if they lost to the Lakers).

    My bad.

With seven games left I think GSW will go 4-3. Losing to Spurs, OKC and LAL, another upset loss in one of the other 4 games would be awesome, but don't count on it. They are as hungry as the rockets are down the stretch to protect that 6th spot and avoid OKC/Spurs in Round 1.

I think we go 5-2 though, losing to Denver and possibly Memphis. Which would tie us on record and put us into 6th since we own the tiebreaker. If we can beat Portland and Denver on the B2B then it really gives us an excellent chance.

It's strongly possible that the seed will be decided with our last game of the season against LAL. If the Jazz are out of the race by then and LA are secure in 8th then maybe the refs won't need to interfere and give us a fair chance of winning the game.

The only thing that gives me pause is the fact that we have been sniffing on GSW's heels for a bit now but not quite being able to overhaul them. I remain quietly optimistic though.

We actually have a good chance of winning our games at Portland and Denver. Batum is out for the Blazers tonight. Nuggets' top two scorers (Lawson & Gallinari) are out as well. Would still be tough since these games are back to back. I had us losing both of these games so going 1-1 would suffice.

If we win one or both these games, i really think we will be able to steal that 6th spot from the Warriors. We just have to tie their record at the end of the season since we own the tie breaker. ;)

I believe it's actually 3. If Jazz go 4-2 and we lose out they would pass us.

Id be shocked if we lose more than 2 games the rest of the season. I really feel we will snag the 6th seed. Just looked at the games and we have an easy schedule.

    Worst games are

@ Denver on back to back...but no lawson no gallanari. This will greatly dampen their ability to run like they like and like we like. I think we now have the advantage even if it is on the second night of a back to back. We have more depth. We just have to pray for a blowout in Portland. (Aldridge is suppose to be out)

Memphis at home. We have blown them out before, and this being at home. I think we can win this too.

@ LA this will be a tough game. With Kobe dropping 40. This will honestly be the most telling game of the year. We have no excuse on chemistry or rotation concerns. All should be set. This could be what gives us the 6th seed to play injured nuggets. Or what gives the Lakers a playoff chance.

I say we win the LA game. We lose one of the Memphis and nuggets game. Then one more of the easy games that we should win, because the rockets always seem to do that.

So my prediction down the line is: 5 and 2 giving us 47 wins and the 6th seed

Warriors will win at max 4 more games giving them also 47 wins...

but we hold the tie breaker :);)

If we stay put at the 7th seed, I hope OKC overtakes Spurs. I'm much comfortable facing the Spurs than a rising OKC team.

yah I agree. That one is a toss up. I think the OKC will get the no 1 seed. They are only half a game back with the win last night. Their schedules are pretty similar.

facing the spurs even without giniobili will be worse then playing the nuggets though. Especially for our team. If nothing more then sheer playoff experience ya know. They know how to win in the post season. We really dont not as a team.

I see 4-3 for the Warriors, and 5-2 for the Rockets, giving the Rockets the 6th slot.

    Warriors
    2-0 vs PHO, vs MIN
    0-2 vs SAS, vs OKC
    2-1 vs UTA, @ LAL, @ POR

    Rockets
    1-1 @ POR, @ DEN
3-0 vs PHO, vs SAC, @ PHO
    1-1 vs MEM, @ LAL

We really need a win tonight against Portland. Batum is out, and Aldridge is just coming back from an injury. I say start Beverly to shut down Lillard, and start DMo to spread the floor. I don't think an Asik/Smith combo will work against Hickson/Aldridge. The wildcard is TJones.

Denver is hurting now. Two of their top 4 guys are done for the season. I don't think they hold onto #3.
