Carmelo is "only" 34. Impossible to know what's going on in his brain, but he seems to have lost the hunger. If he'd just get the hunger back... Surely he could be a valuable role player, maybe even a Finals-MVP Iguodala-level bench contributor. Iguodala and Carmelo are about the same age, btw. Miles apart in attitude, though.

multiple sources from @basketballholic & Burt Steele are reporting. Melo + 4 first round picks for Draymond Green is happening soon. More to come.
Is he really sick? What if nobody wants him? waive him, Tilman loses money, trade him, need compensation to other team.
Wow. In that table of "Biggest decline in Box Plus/Minus (BPM) for qualified NBA players over a four-season span, 1976-2019," sitting proudly at #11 (and one of the youngest guys in the list) is none other than the apple of @basketballholic's eye, Ricky Rubio.
that is right. I blame Christ Paul more than Melo. You can't just blame someone don't make money from your owner.
As usual people are confused. The Rockets have plenty of problems but we don't need Melo to be another one of them. His reluctance to completely embrace a new role adds to existing offensive and defensive issues the rockets are having. And to be frank, Melo is not helping on either side. So in the interest of team chemistry, let's part with him.
Iguodala has much better role player skills and mentality. Former offensive stars, depending on what their skills are as well as their mentality can be some of the worst players when they get to their washed up stage. Vince Carter is a good example of a guy who got it in terms of being a role player, but he also has a great skill to do it, 3PT shooting. The best way to transition into being more of a role player is to have a great role player skill, but also be ready for it mentally. Defense, playmaking / passing while taking a back seat as a scorer, outside shooting, these are the types of things, or a good enough combination of those skills. Carmelo doesn't really have role player skills and he never really put time into developing them because he probably didn't expect to be a role player. Jamal Crawford for example has been a more effective old age iso guy than Carmelo can be and has been able to be because he's been more efficient he's a better shooter, and he can mix in playmaking. He's still generally been a net zero type guy, but a net zero guy is fine leading your bench, especially when he can explode, he's just not a guy you want playing 25+ mpg in the post-season which becomes the problem. Also his outside shooting ability allows him to be able to pair fairly well with the teams stars too.
I can tell you what happening he got out of the rotation and got mad. He was like I can come off the bench but he could not take not getting in the game. Here is what I think the Rockets should have done, Played to his strengths he is not a 3 point shooter but he has a nice mid range shot. So when he came in just let him play to his strengths and if he got hot then tell him to shoot the 3's.
