plus DJ simply doesn't have a position where he can excel at. he's a pg, but doesn't have the best handles. harris unfortunately isn't better than hayes, and and is expendable. wafer is the right choice here.
Thank you. I wouldn't be surprised if we had a trade before the deadline that would bring in another former all star. We drop the dead weight that comes with the deal, and pick Hayes and DJ back up.
I thought Strawberry was a better all-around player, but oh well. Wafer played well and earned his spot. If he keeps up his great shooting and gets some PT, he could be a steal at his salary.
Wafer is no more of a prospect than strawberry is, they'll both probably keep bouncing around in this league for the same reason, not complete players and what they do well they don't do great, like say, chuck hayes. There's no point in arguing over who's a better ball player because that's irrelevant for 2 guys who are likely to ride the bench or injured list. You only go for the best player when they're really going to eventually contribute consistently to a team, like they did with Aaron. What should be lookedfor these 2 guys is who fills any possible hole we have and defense is NOT one of them. And please stop with the "we need him to guard cp/deron" because those guys, especially deron, use picks to lose their defenders time and time again, what's going to matter most is how our bigs defend the guy rolling to the hoop or Deron/CP driving to the hoop.
what!?!?!? why wafer!?!?!? he's a decent shooter and all, but we have barry, head, battier, and brooks who can sit around the 3 all day. plus you dont have to worry about brooks, barry, and head getting hurt because all they do is shoot and they're durable, as oppose to our perimeter defense speicalists artest and battier who will be questionable throughout the season! what if one guy goes down? we needed strawberry to back them up! in my opinion wafer outplayed strawberry this preseason, but i think our team needs a defender more than another shooter.
bah, there goes some legit size at the back court. And also the the ability to run as well as dribble penetration. One of the most entertaining moment during the preseason is when AB and Strawberry is playing together. Both play agressive defense and looking to run at every opportunity. And both draw alot of faults with their dribble penetration. And i have to change my signature as well. Oh well, heres hoping that strawberry can get a 10 day contract like harris and work his way in to the roster. Wafer? Yeah we know he can dunk and everything, but look at the preseason stats, his fallen in love with this 3p shooting. 25/51- 49% Compare that to the top 10 3p sharp shooters of last season percentage vise, only Peja and Gibson takes a higher % of his shots from the 3p line.
I suspect that if Strawberry and Wafer didn't have such yummy names, people wouldn't have been so excited about these guys. I mean, a 6-page debate about two borderline NBA players?
Please tell me that it's not guaranteed. As of now, luther head is still ahead of him in the rotation. Besides, I have high hopes of Stevie Franchise coming back this season. Am I the only one who still believe in francis?
None of those guys can get off their normal shot when covered, Wafer has the ability to create space, get up in the air and shoot his normal shot similat to Tmac, although not as well. Battier and Artest are both pretty durable players considering how many minutes they play and how hard, they're not anymore questionable than the other guys on the team. Battier's injury just needed extra rest and then he shoud be fine. Once again, the Rockets are good defensively because they all contribute defensively, not because one guy stops everyone, its not crucial that they have a "defensive specialist" to back up the defensive specialist who backs up our other defensive specialist....
You are not alone brother (or sister). I still believe, apparently management still believes (at least a little) in Francis' return.
We needed a scoring 2-guard besides T-Mac. Noone on this team can create their shot like Wafer. Celtics have Eddie House and Sam Cassel Lakers have Farmar and Vujacic Cavs have Mo Williams and Delonte West Before Wafer, we had Brooks and Head? our backcourt was in dire need of some scoring, and Wafer offers some of that.
Wafer's stroke is real. I really like the choice. If he works hard on it, he can definitely become a legitimate 3-point threat in the NBA, and on a normal basis. But again, I don't believe Adelman is really patient enough to develop young talent -- Gerald Wallace, Kevin Martin with the Kings
