A little surprising to waive him months before the trade deadline. His contract could have been useful as salary filler. It looks like the Rockets might not be as active in the trade market as people were predicting. They may not make a single trade.
It is but why would he sign for 4 years? That seems stupid, 2 with a player option in year 3, ....4 at such a low number is really selling himself short. DD
I remember when he was a surprise good player. He was the darling of CF. Then it all came to an end. We kept him for nothing, and it cost Jalen Green his preferred jersey number.
8 million is alot of money esp considering he may not have had confidence in sticking in the NBA He can ReNegotiate . . . like all players Rocket River
You're right. We as fans can be stoked about this contract. But as much as i err more on the side of the player than the organisation, i hope this works out for him. This is a VERY team friendly deal. With each year being non garunteed, it basically means he has to be at least bench worthy for the next 4 years. Any dip in that production and.. he'll be waived quicker than his shot release.

As president of the Danuel House haters association, this is a great day for our organization. Just fantastic news.
Well said! I can see it now. It was as if a light bulb went off in Stone's head. He was leaning back in the swivel chair behind his desk when he suddenly sat up, and in a voice so loud that it startled some of the staff walking past in the hall outside, proclaimed, "Aha! I know what we'll do. Waive House, lock up Mathews, and sign that talented kid with the Vipers, Traveling Queen, or whatever his name is, to a two way deal. Jalen finally gets his cherished number and will come back to the team renewed, refurbished, something like that. I'm brilliant!"
I was hoping we could find space for him in camp a few seasons ago, happy to see him fight for his nba career.
