I think he could have done better in Europe, and probably made a lot more money there. A slower and less athletic league would have been perfect for him.
Nix never even gave a hint of being NBA talent. Don't know where you saw Green and Sengun look like busts.
I don't think he is a star, but to me he looked like a guy who needed a system to be successful, a little like FVV to be honest....a guy who was not a great athlete but a good ball handler who could pass.....and shoot a little bit. Under Silas the PG was asked to beat his guy off the dribble, not off a pnr which is what most other teams do. I am not against the grain Amel, just more in depth in this regard than most who just want to follow the sheeple and say Nix sucks. DD
lol. A little more in depth…. Sheeple…. Can’t make this stuff up. Rockets 5th in the NBA in pick and roll possessions last year under Silas. NBA Rank in pick and roll possessions per game : 6th : Jalen Green 12th : KPJ
They didn't run them much with Nix, this is a player assessment - he needed help getting by his man - you just took generic stats, most likely not associated with Nix - but go ahead, what were Nix' numbers? And watch what he does in Minny - with structure.....and get back to me. DD
A player assessment…. You said : “Under Silas the PG was asked to beat his guy off the dribble, not off a pnr which is what most other teams do.” The two players who played the most PG for the Rockets last year ranked 6th and 12th in the entire league in pick and roll possessions per game. The Rockets as a team utilized pick and roll more than a majority of the league. Whoops.
Nix signed a non-guaranteed, Exhibit 10 contract, better known as a training camp invite. He might get their 3rd two-way slot, but he might just get cut, as Bima suggests.
Flash forward a couple of months, when Nix is signing to play in Greece... "I never said he was actually good, I said he had the potential to be good in the right system. Obviously Minny botched a golden opportunity, but just because Nix is no longer in the NBA doesn't mean I was wrong. Potential, people! Now just watch what he does for Olympiakos, then get back to me. DD"
Honestly, if ever he gets in shape he can become a serviceable 3rd string PG. As fat as he is he ain't gonna make it.
We'll never know, though. Any dude willing to show up out of shape for his 1-in-a-million shot at playing in the best league in the world doesn't understand the value of hard work. His inability to hit a free throw confirms that lack of attention when it comes to correcting flaws.
You have officially lost your mind if you're comparing those two guys in any way at all. Chunky Chuck had the talent to dominate even when he was Chunky Chuck.
