You guys make it sound like Yao should be defensive player of the year. The whole team was sagging down to help him. Why do you guys think Malone shot the ball about 100 times? Everybody was sagging down on Shaq.

Think longterm. You're right about the short term changes compared to last year. With the same core of guys, you can argue that Rudy probably could have won more games in the regular season than JVG. Stevie will probably get his normal numbers this year also. Our offense will probably be more open and will score more under Rudy. But these statements don't mean much if you think longterm.

It's all about playing basketball the right way. Without discipline, we are not going anywhere in this league. Without consistently playing with intensity, we are not going anywhere. Without the willingness to share the ball, getting everyone involved and play as ONE team, we are not going anywhere. (See the spurs' system) JVG is guiding our guys on the right direction IMO.

Starting next year, you will really see the benefits of JVG.

You guys never give Yao any credit when he actually played a huge part in neutralizing Shaq. That's what we are talking about right?

I don't think Yao should be defensive player of the year but there is no doubt in my mind that we should definitely be the defensive team of the year. Like I said...

Go Rockets!

The Biggest Difference Between Spurs & the Rox:

They are a hell lot more discplined. They stayed poised and execute almost to perfection.

While Rox were up by 20 something points to the Lakers, they stop executing and revert back to the old style of ISO offense, and turn the ball over time and again. They did not even realize that the 20 point leads are now down to 2. Once they woke up, they start feeding Yao gain.

We improved a lot this year, but I don't think we ever play discplined ball enough times to make it a habit. When pressure mounts, we fold and guys don't know their role. If everyone says we should go to Yao and Yao is the guy, then why is Jim Jackson took more shots (bricks important shots) when things are going tough. Why not use your brain a little?

Sorry, but its like comparing apples and oranges, the Spurs have a completely different mentality within their organisation and defintealy with their players..

Has anyone ever noticed that The entire starting lineup for the spurs is made up of entirely international players? It's not racist, its a fact, and I think that's the reason why the Spurs mentality is what it is. They are very humble and very unassuming. The Spurs don't have big ego's and beat on their chest when they win, and they don't make lame ass excuses when they lose, they are very transparent and fair. Not that Americans can't be any of these things, but to be honest, most, atleast in proffessional sports, are flamboyant and arrogant. Its just a cultural thing.

Bravo! Teams consisted of most foreign players, like Spurs, Mavs and kings do have less malcontents or misfits. International players care less about stats or showboating.

Bravo sir, bravo!

One thing I hate about the BBS world is everyone is the perfect coach, GM, or player.

one of the best posts in a long time, and it was short!

They have a coach that understands his players' abilities, and has a firm understanding of how to excel on both ends of the court.
They have a franchise player.
They have better role players.

.......I guess that would make them better than the Rockets.

Alot of us are happy that the Lakers are getting whipped! Alot of us are happy to see how "old" the Lakers look against the Spurs. Alot of us have been waiting 4 or 5 years to see this day... THE BAD NEWS IS, I think we are seeing the next LA Lakers. The Spurs have the best player in the league (I don't give a **** if KG got the MVP or not) and one of the best young point guards in Parker (Only Kidd & Bibby stand in his way)... not to mention, great talent like Ginoboli, Bowen and Rasho. The SPURS are the team of the future. It makes me realize how far the Rockets must come to be on their level.
