Also, another casualty of driving while under the influence, if Lawson ends up taking less money this year via buyout, after foregoing his guarantee for next year.

That's why I think Lawson and Agent will probably only accept a buyout that matches this year's salary, but spread across two years. He gets his money equivalent to full pay for this year, and Les doesn't have to pay the Lux Tax. But our prorated portion across two years (this yr and next) hits our cap longer.

As much as Ty Lawson was a bad fit and the system was not right for him...he could not consistently beat his man one on one nor finish at the rim.

If bought out, I hope he goes to Miami. They could really use the PG depth, and it's an EC team.

Excellent point. Remember when we traded Brooks to Denver for nothing? We did it to give AB playing time to score a better deal. We were doing him a solid and he used it well. I could see the same thing for Lawson coming about. I also don't think Lawson is going to let the Rockets off the hook entirely, He probably keeps 2/2.5 of that 3 mil.

That's strange. I thought Morey would keep him, because this contract could be an excellent Trade chip come Draft Night.

Dmo says he feels 100%, Rockets doctors have cleared him, now he's getting/gotten a second opinion after the voided trade. Worrell and Bullard said during the Root Sports telecast that they expect him to play against the Bucks. Morey says if he feels good, he will play.

The contract he signed this summer is very buyout friendly though. IF he decides this summer to come over there is little preventing him from doing so.

That's too bad. I was hoping he'd make his way to Houston. But I'm not sure he would want to now seeing how this team is underperforming.

LOFs agree!! haha. This was then and remains now their main argument. The system doesn't fit Lin and blame it on the high-scoring guard, at Houston, LA and CHO.

Aside from that: You can't be glad Morey negotiated the 2nd year as non-guaranteed, then not expect him to use it. This is the scenario where he uses it. The troubled player (likely alcoholic) has a huge performance drop, so you cut him.

I bet his current team wouldn't want to face the rockets in the playoffs though.

So, lemme get this straight. The Rockets are essentially going to pay Ty to play on another team, and they will probably use his roster spot to sign another player, but Le$ is cheap. Got it. Faulty logic is faulty.

He going to blow up again elsewhere under a good coach and good system and average 15/8 and we will be left wondering what happened

yes for the summer. NOT NOW.

It is out of the realm of possibillities to get bought out right now in the middle of the season. Not even a scenario.

I thought that was what the other poster was saying. About now not in summer.

Could we really not get even a single 2nd round pick for him? Come on Morey.

Anyway, replacing him with Kevin Martin would be pretty sweet. Hope Morey realizes this team needs goods SGs to complement Harden, not a PG. Time to stop pretending Harden isn't our real PG.

Doghouses and Cliques. Fairweather favoritism, next-day passive aggressiveness.

James isn't going to be thrilled.

But I'm hopeful for addition by subtraction, if all works out.

I've got love for Ty, and I'd like him to stay, but it hasn't worked.

What's worse is how my boy LowKey feels. Sacrifice(s) don't always yield rewards.

not the same. Brooks was not a buyout.

But yeah, doing a solid is of value. But he's already getting PT here, and the value of one good game in the Playoffs is huge.

Plus, the math I'm suggesting is minor. I'm saying $1 for $1 for rest of games, you're probably talking about 80 cents to the dollar.
