Agreed. This is what I've been saying. It's not the same situation. Doubt Lin would be offended if he were still on the team after we ended up getting Melo. It's the principle and the timing behind it all. You and another poster are correct in that it's just a number and that Lin hasn't been our savior or anything like that. But it just feels like a dick move to do that while Lin is still on the team.
He played to his contract last year...he got paid 5mil, regardless of what the cap hit was. He WON'T play to his contract this year.

Nah. Cap hit is all that matters. It's what matters in how you can build a team. If a guys cap hit is 1 dollar, but he's actually payed 20 million doesn't bother me one damn bit. That's on the owner and not how my team is built. He's been an 8.37 mil guy each year. Doesn't matter what the number on the check is.
Im pretty sure this is not a single case. There's probably a lot of stuff going on last year and this year and this might be just a trigger everything he held in during his tenure here. Yea, sure, PB did it for Dwight, but PB did not have a nasty relationship with Dwight. As far as I know, Dwight never publicly called PB's contract ridiculous, or forced PB out of the Rockets. Not a Lin fan by any means (understatement actually..) but the number thing should have been avoided. He's still on the team and you have to maintain a positive atmosphere.
no, i just have a different definition of 'basketball' and 'team'. what you're referring to is the business of nba basketball. i played basketball. my father played college basketball and was a coach until he retired. he had a certain philosophy that extended beyond the court. it was admirable and i'll go to my grave respecting ideals more than a bought trophy.
