Oh man. I was so pissed the second I saw this thread, but luckily I saw Tim's posts which calmed me down. She's a nice person, but she is WORTHLESS at commentating on the Rockets. It would be one of the worst personnel moves of all time to make her the color guy. I was gonna say start a petition, but I guess that's been done.

So what are we saying here: The lower classes, the white trash, the uneducated blacks, and ignorant hispanics, who make up the main portion of the viewing audience, they seem to be fine with Cynthia Cooper. I think you insult even the so-called lower classes intelligence with that one. You severely underestimate their abilities of awareness, judgement, and their standards for satisfaction. They may labor and slave by day and curse and drink by night, but they know the simple notions of right and wrong, and Cynthia Cooper on tv with microphone, thats just not right. To any man, woman, or child, whether he be a farmer in fifthward tending to his chickens or a lawyer sipping tea in his downtown high rise, when they see Cynthia Cooper on tv talking, they both get the common universal notion that something aint right.

who cares... as long as they don't touch Gene and Jim (on the radio) I'll be fine... I never listen to the TV broadcasts anyway.

You know what, just don't watch the game like you've said earlier. You're not going to hurt anyone's feeling.

Stoke, so far the only one here who assumes that the viewer base as a whole is lower class, less educated, etc., than the people on this board is you.

    Deckard -
I hope profiling isn't part of the equation but if it is and (sadly) Calvin won't be back, John Lucas ought to get some consideration.

This is not what Tim said, implied, or remotely thought. Go have some beers and relax.

Tim, I'm someone who lives in Austin that has had League Pass the last 4 years to watch the Rockets, and will again this year. I have been upset that, more often than not, Bill and Calvin were replaced by the opposing team's people. I hope whoever replaces Calvin, for however long that might be, is in no way, shape or form remotely similar in broadcasting ability when compared to Coop. Her hiring for the halftime show is one of the worst decisions you guys (and gals) have ever made. I hit mute whenever she comes on.

Fine basketball player. She has no business being in broadcasting.

I hope it isn't either. Lucas would be a major upgrade over Coop.

Very accurate. No insight, and no charisma. On-screen that is (I have never met Coop in person).

We don't want no stinkin' Cooper. We want the eloquent Mike Newlin. Bring on the lisp. or does he relate to the uncommon high denominator. Having Cynthia Cooper do the halftime show signifies your poor assumption of what the common viewer desires to hear. They yearn to hear the passion and eloquence of Mike Newlin. And if they don't, its just because they don't know any better. These are historically dedicated Rocket fans, not philly cheescake heads, or Laker merchandise lovers. The product on the court is the best its been in years, but the product on the tv is at an all time low. Reformation, yeah im with it, but not if it means throwing the good out and brining the bad in, reform and conserve, reform the bad things, conserve the good things, and it'll be a great season for all.
