I think the 2012 draft pick could be more valueable than most people realise. There is talk a lot of underclassmen are going to skip the 2011 draft due to a possible lockout. This would see the 2012 draft being very deep. Anthony Randolph seems alright but he seems like another Stromile Swift, lots of talent and very athletic, but does he have the brain and mental strength to use all that and turn into a star player.
Houston Trade Breakdown Change in Team Outlook: +18.7 ppg, +1.0 rpg, and +1.4 apg. Incoming Players Wilson Chandler 6-8 SF from DePaul 12.5 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 1.5 apg in 21.0 minutes Anthony Randolph 6-10 PF from LSU 11.5 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 1.5 apg in 21.0 minutes Outgoing Players Chuck Hayes 6-6 SF / PF from Kentucky 5.3 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 1.6 apg in 20.5 minutes Patrick Patterson 6-9 from Kentucky No games yet played in 2010-2011 Plus giving back the pick from New York. It's a win win
I believe the rockets own their own 2012 1st round draft pick, so they can still participate in that draft. If the Knicks aquire Carmello somehow, the 2012 NY pick will definetly be in the 20s.
Yep. If they added Randolph, it's more addition of youth and an indication of a long-term view. But at the same time, it's always a possibility to flip youth for that superstar that falls out of favor with his current team or goes on the block (see: the Boston Celtics overnight). By the way -- one of the worst shortenings of a thread title by the front page of the BBS ever: Rockets trying to get Anthony...
The guys comparing Randolph to Swift have either never watched Randolph play or have a grasp on basketball on par with a 7 year old. It's like youtube has made half of you stupid. Randolph might be a headcase but his skill set is phenomenal and from what I've read his problem is with authority figures and not working on his game. If Adelman can coach Ron he can coach Randolph. Factor in that this team is full of classy, professional veterans and I think the guy has better than a 50/50 chance of flourishing here.
Well looks like those Knicks picks are not going to be worth that much, why not take a shot on Randolph, tons of athleticsm, minus the brain. Stromile Swift part 2 maybe? DD
Personally it doesnt mater if we debate ARs value or not...or if you think he is going to be swift or josh smith. Morey whos job is to find talent... and has done a very good job of it...wants him. The spurs wanted him...in fact he almost got the warriors amare...but curry dropped to them at 7 so they refused to do the trade with the suns....had the other 6 teams not been idiots and drafted curry the warriors would have dealt the pick and randloph to the suns for amare. The point is the guy obviously has immense talent. He obviously has some serious issues and problems as well...(or hed be starting) My take is daryl has weighed the good and the bad, that us with our limited knowledge can see, and chose to make a move. Who knows the ultimate game plan...but I think he has a talent set we desperately need...athleticism and intensity...not to mention he can block shots. Just think Iggy, Randolph, Hill on the same court. May not win a championship but should be fun to watch.
Agreed totally...swift and randolph are no where near the same player. Its kinda like the people that said no no..dont trade for artest hes a cancer....hes not as good any more. Well morey outweighed the good and the bad...knew our locker room could handle him...and choose to get him. And he was a huge part of us going to the second round.
After game 1 of the playoffs when Kirilenko was crying... Was he at the 3 when he helped them beat us?
I agree, but you are not tied into a long term deal with him either, if he sucks you don't lose much.... Why not get a look at what he could be now, in a year that Shane is expiring and Cbud has sucked balls. DD
Wouldn't help us right now. He's in the same situation as Hill. A lot of potential, not solid, not reliable day-to-day. And we have Patterson. We need More Nick Collisons, more Jeff Fosters, less Randolphs-Hills.
This is pretty much how I feel. Can AR really give us more than what Hill or Patterson could possibly give us. All of these guys are unproven to an extent, but we have seen that AR is viewed as somewhat of a problem for the teams he has played for so far. I don't want players with a low basketball IQ.
