I could actually envision something doable on this level: AR + Azubuike* + 2 2nds / JJ + NYK's 1 return and 2013 Rox 1. KA gets an agreed buy-out, resigns with Knicks when ready to play. Rox get AR and benefit from reduced lux situation.
Oh hell yes. I'm worried about his basketball IQ, but the skills and athleticism are definitely there and Artest, Rasheed Wallace, Zach Randolph, and any number of others have shown you can be a headcase and still produce on the court. Low risk, high reward, and we're buying super low.
The salaries don't match. And if they did, the Knicks would be raping us in this deal. They get their 2012 pick back AND our first rounder in 2013?! Remember we are helping them get Melo this season so we shouldn't have to throw anything extra.
wuts the point. we still sucks. you guys overrate DM waaaaaaaaaaay too much! the trade mite push it to 38 wins season?
I've only seen him play a little bit-- in that little bit he looked like he could take control of a game. Didn't have to worry about footwork or moves, because he could simply jump over any defender. Think a faster, more mobile, young KG. I don't know anything about how he's played the vast majority of his young career, or the attitude he's displayed, or what he's like as a person or teammate. I know* he can run, jump, and shoot. He can play the 3 or 4, maybe even a little 5 or 2. We don't have anything remotely like him on our roster. I'll have to trust Morey and Adelman to research him and decide whether all that potential can be harnessed. Of course, there's now this notion: what do we have to lose? *Just like I used to know about Chase Budinger, and hope to know again!
I agree about Randolphs current value.. which is the only reason we'd be able to acquire him with the Knicks pick in the first place. I strongly feel that Randolph's potential is worth sacrificing a 20s pick, even if the draft is supposedly deep. I don't think you could find someone anywhere near the potential that Randolph has in the 20s and the kid is still only 21. Mostly, I'm excited about his length and athleticism -- something this team is sorely missing. The hope is that he could turn into an elite shot blocker ala Josh Smith. As far as the right to swap or the 2nd round pick -- sure, why not. Those seem to be small bonuses that I suppose Morey could hope to squeeze from them. But would I do the deal without them? Absolutely. Of course I'd take them if we could though. Would you not be willing to do the deal if they refused to include anything of value other than Randolph? I don't think I'd personally let that be a deal breaker. Because it's just another added bonus or asset for them. I remember reading early in the Melo sweepstakes that the Knicks had the players that could please the Knicks, but not the draft picks (1st rounders). I assume the Knicks package would revolve around Galinari, Fields, and the 1st rounder. I'm not sure why they wouldn't prefer Randolph to the first rounder -- but I'll gladly take him. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.
Has Stromile ever averaged 16 pts, 12 rbds, 1 stl, 2 blks a game? If not then please stop putting him and Randolph in the same sentence.
Yes, they have struggled. Big deal. AR has struggled already in his career. Jordan has/is struggling. Chase has struggled. That's not the end of the world. Both Kirilenko and Smith are difference makers for their teams on the defensive end. By the way, take a peek at Kirilenko's efficiency playing the 3 this season and tell me he hasn't adapted quite well. I'd love to have him at the 3 for this team. He would make us so much better. Randolph has the skill set, the youth, and the potential to become very good at whatever role he is assigned. Adelman and Morey may view him as a young Miller and an ideal high post center. I can see that very easily with his jump shot range and his ability to look down the barrel and pick out cutters. He has the size and skills to be a great high post contract to a low post player and a bunch of cutters. And yes, he would be considered a low first round pick now. But after his rookie season, he would have been considered a top 3 lottery pick. His value rose his rookie season because of the display of his talents. He is really a longer Lamar Odom that if he could get his head screwed on right, could be better than Odom from the bball iq standpoint.
At 21 years of age, where would the 7ft AR be drafted in this upcoming draft or draft there after? If Im not mistaken the Spurs who are not idiots when it comes to accessing talent made a push to aquire AR.
AI, Young for Brooks, Battier, Jeffries and Randolph Re-sign Battier next year to come off the bench. Sign Marky Gasol to replace Yao. Lowry Martin AI Scola Gasol Ish Lee Battier Patterson Hill I'll roll with this.
exactly stromile had one skill and that was dunking. This kid has Skill(S) at 6'11. He needs to study the game and learn from professionals hes a match up nightmare. With players like Durant taking over the game we need a player that can match up and put the pressure on him and if he learns game he has the potential to do so.
What are you talking about? Stromile's career best is 11 ppg and 6rpg as is Randolphs. Both in their second season.
So you guys want an overrated headcase who is skinny as hell and continue the trend of no beef in the front court? Awesome.
