I've got concerns about this. AR looks like a PF, and we already have a very solid PF in Scola, and a couple of young guys as his backup in Hill and Patterson. Considering that both Golden State and the Knicks don't really want this guy, I am nervous about us trading away Hill or Patterson and then counting on AR to then be a good fit with the Rockets. Giving up the 2012 Pick seems OK to me, but is AR going to give us more than Patterson or Hill at the PF position. We really don't know yet what Patterson is even capable of. I suppose we could flip AR for another player, but are other teams really that interested in AR at this point? The way our season is going, I would not be too surprised to see us try to make some kind of big move.
GS and NY are not disciplined enough for a player like Randolph. His talent is superb and has star potential at 21 years old. first round pick for him I would do it bc it seems like NY is going to make the playoffs and I still believe we will to so yes Morey knows whats hes doing.
Except Billups got a ton more minutes since he got in the league and it took 8 years for him to really develop into the player he is. I guess we can wait 8 years.....
Yall are crazy, Randolph is more than worth the first round pick. It's not going to be a lottery pick. The Knicks are rolling as of late, so at best its a mid-late first rounder. I'd take Randolph over some rook. This kid could be really special if given the chance.
I agree with JayZ that the 12 pick is golden. The college underclassmen aren't going to declare for this draft because of the upcomming NBA players being locked out until a new CBA is done. In 2012 there'll be basically 2 years of underclassmen declare for that draft.
Ain't worth a 1st round pick to test that theory. I rather save it for a rainy D or take a chance in the draft. Plus we got a log jam at the 4/5 now.
I don't know if I can wait 8 years.............but if we are rebuilding, I would like to see a fire sale.
The only Knicks game I've seen this season was the one vs. Houston, and in that game, I was surprised at how bad Randolph looked. But Morey rarely makes mistakes when it comes to player evaluation, so there must be more to him than meets my eye. Still, complaining about his playing time when his team is riding a seven-game winning streak...well, that's not a good sign either.
I've said this before get randolph, play him at the 3. I've watched him play and i believe he can play the 3 effectively. He handles the ball better than shane and some of the other things will come with seasoning. Since i highly doubt the rockets can get a superstar, they need to get guys with a very high ceiling. Randolph has josh smith/younger ak-47 type of potential. He could be a larry nance/horry type of 3 man which would be great for this team.
I agree. He's definetly not a center, but aquiring AR would open the door for Morey to make a bigger move with all the young talent he currently has on the roster. Or maybe the team is moving in a different direction as far as Yao goes. If the rockets can trade the NY 2012 pick for him, I would do it. The question is where would the 21yr old AR be drafted into todays draft?
