I have a hard time believing that the same guy who sent Morey what he did for T-Mac's busted self has the ability to pull off this trade.
NO WAY Minnesota is trading an un-protected #1 pick for AR and ECurry. HAS to be lottery protected for a few years.
The trade is bull****. Why? because of no incoming point guards. You know Wolves love them point guards. That's why they're after Brooks.
Agreed, we need to get in on some of this action. Give Denver either Chase or TWill, we take Wilson Chandler, and we sweeten the pot by giving back to NY their 2012 pick, and giving back the option to switch picks in 2011. Then NY would be free to give their 2011 and 2013 1st round picks to Denver.
The Utah pick makes a lot of sense for Minny. But it doesn't make sense for Denver. Utah's pick is nowhere good enough for Melo with the lukewarm players in Chandler and Brewer. Still seems like posturing to me. I don't think we have a shot at Melo, but I do like the idea of us trying to get in the middle of one of these trades to get good players or picks.
Walsh is not a bad GM, he's just old. Walsh gambled (and rightfully so) he just lost. It was worth the shot, he cleared enough space for another max or nearly max player, he just didn't land the player. Look how well he's done making the team relevant again after Thomas screwed them up. Solid job in my book. A lot of people felt like if LeBron didn't stay with the Cavs, he would have chosen the knicks. Walsh did everything he could to land James, just didn't happen.
if this is the best DEN can do with Melo, they should be ashamed of themselves. getting one 1st rd pick and a couple middle of the road players when they could have pulled the trigger on the New Jersey deal.... ouch.
Sounds like a Khan move. Very stupid as usual. After all of that gold mine type of deals he pulls off this stinking pile of rubbish to substitute the unbelievably massive haul he had coming in from New Jersey. From Mansion to the outhouse with this organization. Great GM you guys have there in Denver.
I think this is a better offer than any Melo rental offers. And if Melo is NYK or bust bound, which I think he is, then this is Denver's take it or lose him for nothing offer. Denver get's 2 expirings (flexability) and a good replacement SF starter + a #1 + huge cash savings and a chance to rebuild. I know it's not as good as keeping Melo but if that is not possible, and he NY bound then I think this is not a bad offer for a trade-me-to-this-1-team-or-I-walk offer. I doubt the pick that Denver is getting is Minny's own. Even Kahn's not that stupid. But Minny own's the Grizzlies' 2011 pick (top-14 protected in 2011, top-12 protected in 2012, top-10 protected in 2013, top-9 protected in 2014 and 2015, cash thereafter) and I can see Kahn trading that one for AR. So I think this could go down as-is (assuming $3 cash is included to cover Curry's remaining salary).
Denver screwed themselves when it came to NJ. They played way to many games and I stated this before NJ pulled themselves out of the race. Melo didn' want NJ which is fine but I have a problem if this trade goes down. I think the package that's being thrown out there right now is completely trash and it sends out a bad vibe just like the Gasol deal. Chandler has played great this year but I can't see him as the main piece IMO.
I don't understand all the excitement over AR. Yes, he looks like he has some serious potential, but how long have we been saying that? Granted, he doesn't get a lot of playing time, but I would be a lot more interested if we were looking to tweak our team a bit, rather than looking for high-impact players. AR would make more sense AFTER we found our 5, and hopefully another key starter.
This team is a sub .500 lottery team as it stands right now. Why would you want to 'tweak' it? We need a major shakeup. You 'tweak' teams that are close to contending but are missing that last guy that can get them over the hump. We're no where close to that level; we should hit re-start by shipping Scola off for potential/draft picks.
That sounds so pointless. "Potential/draft picks" who may never be as good as Scola, and if they do in time become nearly as good as Scola. The Rockets trade them for younger pieces again? It's not re-starting, when a team is left with a whole lot of nothing.
True however it belongs to the Clips if the Wolves aren't in the top 10. Next year could get ugly for Minny, the pick will be un-protected and thus go to the Clips regardless. Earliest is 2014?
What good is Scola to a team that is years away from ever seriously contending? Unless you still think that this present team can eventually contend. The Rockets have Scola's replacement in Patrick Patterson. He's not as good as Scola is, but he's a damn promising rookie that needs more playing time. We also have Chuck Hayes, one of the best defensive PFs in the NBA whose game has never stopped improving. You trade Scola to open up a spot for Patterson. I didn't get into specifics of what we would deal for Scola and obviously it would depend on the deal -- so there's no need to get too in depth into criticizing it. But what I'm saying is that this team could trade their 30 year old PF and the 3 years/28 million (or 4 years/39 million if not waived) left on his contract and not take a big hit at the PF spot. Besides, should CP3 or Dwight become available next year -- which do you think would be more appealing for NO/ORL: draft picks/young talent [trade Scola] or a 31 year old PF (w/ close to ~20M left) that's as good as he's going to get? If we can pick up assets in exchange for trading a player that wouldn't be that big of a loss for us, I think we should definitely consider it.
