Given how the value of those Knicks picks have plummeted...I wouldn't be as against it as I was several months ago. All I know is, we need a serious roster makeover in the next couple of weeks. I like most of these guys, but the no-star approach has failed in a big way.
leeb, I've seen you drop the Robert Horry comparison a few times.. it's not a good comparison at all. Randolph is NO WHERE near the shooter that Horry was when he came out.. not even close. A homeless man's Lamar Odom would be more appropriate.
Throw in Azubuike and it matches, he isn't going to be a factor for them this season and is an expiring contract.
The real question that we all have to answer is, do we want Anthony Randolph more than we want Ishmael Smith? I hate to say it, but......
Carl Landry, Aaron Brooks, Chase Budinger, Jordan Hill, Patrick Patterson, Luis Scola, Kyle Lowry, and Von Wafer disagree.
This is good/bad depending on whether Azubuike plays "D". If he does, good deal for Houston. Other wise id say he is just Cap Fodder, and necessitating us to clear a roster spot. We would still have to give up someone else. Either in the trade, or a release.
I just don't see Ish just being cut or traded, rather multiple deals going down to open up space...2 for 1 or 3 for 1.
If he is ready to play and contribute (like Patterson) he will get minutes. If he isn't and he is still acting like a bonehead on the court (Williams) then he won't get minutes.
I believe Ish would be included in a deal like that -- it was known a while back that the Knicks were looking for a backup PG. He seems to have the skill they covet.. pushing the tempo constantly.
3.3.m in cap space + Randolph -> <- 1st rounder + Jeffries + Ish Got salary here: http://espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=2821
whoops....correction: 2.64m in insurance money (80% salary) + 3.3.m in cap space + Randolph -> <- 1st rounder + Jeffries + Ish Got salary here: http://espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=2821[/QUOTE]
No thanks to Randolph unless part of this trade is 40 pounds of muscle so the dude can play center. He's a 3/4 tweener that we really have little use for. Plus, we've all heard the questions about his work ethic. The fact that the Knicks have ZERO depth and he still can't sniff the floor even despite his 'star pedigree' is really telling.
