Give Anthony Randolph 5 games on your team. Watch him play. You will fall in love with the hustle this kid throws out there. Also, you have to realize, any young player who had to suffer 2 years under Don Nelson is going to be shell shocked for a considerable amount of time. Randolph is from Texas, so this could be the perfect place for him to come into his own.
No, I don't have much patience with those that whine about DM/RA, but I have to admit, it would be nice to see what kind of team DM would put together if JVG were the coach. The team would end up playing defense, one way or another.
I think DM would agree with that, too. It was reportedly Les Alexander's call to bring in Adelman while Morey favored keeping JVG.
The main thing I remember about the Celtics while DM was there is he was always trying to build a team full of rugged defensive players. DM loves defense, it's Les that forces the offense upon him. That being said, we could do way worse than RA.
someone else already mentioned that Denver wants to get something back for him rather than let him walk, so they could deal him to NJ if NY decides to wait. Melo may decide to stay a Net and sign the extension, so NY would want to avoid that.
Melo's first choice is to go to NY. But if Denver decides to deal him to NJ, he might decide to sign an extension with NJ under the current CBA. He'll be leaving a lot of money on the table if he waits to sign with NY under the new CBA.
As assistant GM me and DM have discussed this possible trade and we have come to the conclusion that A.Ran has alot of potential but is not worth more than a pick ( whether that is a 1rst or 2nd/with a expiring) . We have discussed many scenerios but feel that we will ultimatley be helping the knicks in the Melo sweepstakes. Thus we propose this........ We will allow you to have the swap pick back and J.Jefferies(w/expiring) for A.Ran and E.Curry (we want his expiring mainly).....We feel that this will meet both of our needs and we will no longer be trading anything else and i mean anything with you guys until cows fly.....Thank you. IT IS WRITTEN....
Well, if we trade Jeffries back to them, my girlfriend, the Knicks Chick, will be very difficult to be around..
Yes Morey is the man, he has assembled the worst defensive Rocket team we have seen in years. Great individual +/-, shooting percentages, all of the stats everyone loves to quote. However, NO D or Rebounding...

great discussion we're having. i think, knowing what i know now, no, I wouldn't trade a 20th pick for a Zach Randolph at 21 years old. He just doesn't impact winning. Frankly, in this particular example he probably hurts it, given his contract. Of course, Randolph (Anthony...this is confusing!) doesn't have that contract yet...and while its hard to imagine his agent will stick to what they wanted a few years back, you know if this kid has any sort of success he's going to want to be overpaid. Granted, I understand with a 20th pick you are as likely to get nothing as something. But I guess that's what I'm saying, I'm not sold you want Randolph on your team in ANY circumstances. As much as people like to bash on Nelson and D'Antoni, these are experienced NBA coaches with a ton of wins between them. Nelson I can understand a little more, but D'Antoni is trying to win. He's not randomly not playing Randolph out of spite. He didn't just sit Jordan out of spite - yes, Jordan's done ok...but let's stop pretending like we got a steal by picking him up - Jordan is an ok backup big. As noted previously, Turiaf is getting the minutes Randolph otherwise would. I get it, there's examples of players that have for random reasons sat on the bench and turned out to be solid NBA players. Frankly, Gerald Wallace is one, and his coach was Adelman (you know, the Rockets coach). So, in my mind, Randolph's upside is a semi-talented backup/starter big who will continue to be a locker room issue, may continue to be a contract issue, and will be an increasingly difficult trade chip (difficult or less value, even if his production goes up, because then your another team trading him, now despite production). His super super upside, which is why I'd be willing to make the move if all else fails, is Lamar Odom-esque. Lamar had similar maturity issues, and now he's got 2 rings, and is pretty important cog in that machine. So I'm conflicted. It depends on what we give up and what we get back.
Not really. I think randolph can play the 3 and hill the 4.If the rockets are going to continue with the yao era, they need long athletic guys like hill and randolph. Randolph at the 3 and then hill comes in to relieve scola. Then when yao goes out, hill slides to the 5 and randolph the 4.
That's interesting. Both Morey and JVG are still relatively young, so it's possible they'll get to work together in the future, in Houston or somewhere else.
agreed. after watching the highlights, the thing that stands out most to me is how well the kid handles the ball.
I would do this trade Hou trades: Shane Battier Chase Budinger Jermaine Taylor NY's 1st round pick NY trades: Anthony Randolph Wilson Chandler Kelenna Azubuike Our Line Up: Brooks/Lowry/Ish Martin/Lee Chandler/Azubuike/Jefferies Scola/Hill/Patterson Yao/Miller/Randolph/Hayes Chandler would be a great fit at SF. He can shoot and is a great defender, and so are Azubuike and Randolph
