good rebounder, average defender. You have to take into account that in FIBA matches less shots are taken in every game. Scola was second in ppg in the Spanish league averaging "only" 17.

Slds. following is a Translation by poster mg06 Wonderful, now Pop & RC take the heat for allowing Luis the chance to pursue his NBA dream? Had they been selfish and not cared about the person, they would have held on to him and waited, something was bound to come along sooner or later. And what do they do instead? Knowing Luis is 27 and that this was the time to make the jump, they practically gave him away so that he could play, even if for a direct rival. Don't you think that's commendable? In San Antonio, behind Tim he practically wouldn't have had the chance to play, and to make money-wise what someone like him deserves. To me, that doesn't sound wrong at all, otherwise just go ask Luis what he thinks of the Spurs' actions. There's no doubt I would have LOVED to play with Luis, but to him it's clear this was for the best. Greetings. ------------------------------- First time I say this : THANK YOU, Spurs.
Is there anyway anyone....maybe Clutch could photoshop a picture of Scola in a Rockets Jersey with #4. I really can't wait to see how he looks like with it, so im sending this out to everyone. Let's see how this guy would look like in Rockets Red.
Welcome on board, scola. I like the trade. We trade away a player who won't play for us to get a player who fills Rocket's gap at PF and who is the best PF outside NBA. From my reading in the past couple of days, Scola is a great offensive player. But do you think he can defend athletic, strong, tall, and skilled PF like Boozer at middle range or perimeter? I won't worry about his defense under the rim since Yao is there. Is he also aggressive on rebounding?
I hear the rockets a close to signing Scola, if this is true then this rockets team has taken a big jump to contention for next year. He is suppose to sign the contract saturday according to his agent. Lets keep our fingers crossed and hope that it is true.
He developed both his defense and rebounding, but he doesn't excel in any of them. He is an average defender. I think he could do a decent job defending the opponent PF at the perimeter, since he moves well for a big man. He might suffer near the rim defending bigger and stronger guys. The key thing is that Scola is a foul prone player (now not as bad as he used to), and I think in his first year he will be called lots of "rookie fouls". Rebounding he is ok. He has a lot of heart, and will go for every ball. Thanks for the welcome, and I love the trade.
He's the right man for the job. He will be a better fit than any of the top power forward's the were free agents and the others that were rumored getting by trade. He's a better fit than darko,mc deyss or camby. He is more mobile than any of the three, he can run the floor,I mean seriously run the floor almost like a 3. He is a high energy player which is contagious,He understands pick and rolls or pick and pops,He is a willing ball mover which is key within adelam's system. He is tough and won't give an inch playing defense and most importantly he has experience and knows what it takes to win. His argentine squad has been the best international team in Fiba competition for the last 6 years with him being one of the key guy's. The dude is ready right now and he should start. We don't need him to be a dominate low post presence, but he isn't a nothing if you throw the ball into him in the post to him he has some skills and can give you some threat down there if called upon. You don't need him to be a low post presence when we have the best low post player in the league with Yao ming.He and yao have battled over the years playing in international competition and these two together is good synergy.they both will definitely compliment each other with their unselfishness and mega team skills.
He will need time for the transition. All foreign players do. How long that time will be? I don't know. But for some players it takes a full season to contribute everything they got.
Well, I have been expecting Scola to finally get to the NBA for many years. Its finally happening, and I'm excited as hell.
I am guessing this is your 2nd moniker, you used to post under another moniker, and from yesterday you started to use this new one.
I don't think his defensive flaws have to do with physical capabilities. But with concepts and concentration. He moves well for a big man including lateral movement. But he is by no means a great defender. Just average.
not really. I got to this forum following this link: http://www.kingsfanclub.com/madness/madnbarockets.html
