So i was kinda busy this summer with finding a living arrangement for university and stuff. Can someone explain how we got a decent young player (Chriss) and a decent backup for Rhyno and a 46th pick?
They are playing fantasy basketball and nba 2k and think it’s fortnite Morey is trying to play building a championship team
Physicals must have been waived. Knight to be stretched before midnight? Or is getting this done on August 31st, the last day to stretch, just a coincidence?
aug 31st also leaves 60 days for these guys to be sent out in a trade packaged w/ other players -- when chriss' team option comes up (in 61 days)
I don't think people realize how terrible Knight & Chriss are. If you think Ryno was bad, wait til you see these two.
Starting Ryno should also put an end to the ridiculous idea that Phoenix would buy out Ariza. If they’re taking on that contract then they’re trying to build a similar system to what we had two years ago only instead of Harden they have Booker but instead of Capela they have Ayton. Maybe they hope Melton could be like Pat Bev.
Melton - Pat Bev Booker - Harden Ariza - Ariza Ryno - Ryno Ayton - Capela Daniels - EG Tyson - Nene Just to be clear I don’t think it’s actually the plan but my point is no way in hell Ariza is bought out
I obviously don't know him personally but have seen him play. He knows this is his shot at a future with a good team so he is definitely going to be energized to avoid being a dump off somewhere else. Nobody wants to be ITed.
Chriss is barely a NBA player at this point and certainly not a player that will contribute for a championship level or even borderline playoff team. Knight is coming off an ACL tear and missed all of 2018 and was injury prone and not good in 2017. He does have potential to rebound since he is 26 but he’s still owed 30 mil over the next 2 years. Ryno was willing to let go of about 6 million in guaranteed money in the last year of his contract and they liked what they saw from Melton. I think that basically sums it up. I posted this in the Brandon Knight thread too. It’s a pretty good assessment of things. The one positive I see for him in Houston is that he’s a pretty solid corner 3pt shooter around 39% for his career and in 2014-15 he shot 41% from the corner and in 2015-16 he was at 47%. So if we are looking at positives that is a pretty big one.
Knight. Send him all the feels. We need him to be healthy, re-energized, and motivated like EGo to replicate EGo. Also, his D can improve in our team concept and he needs to be committed. That is the ammunition for us to do something at the deadline. If he is nearly as valuable as EGo then he has a good contract that will be attractive.
Ran into this news in the elevator tv this morning. I don't even care who we got in return. Very happy about the trade. Some ridiculed Dwight as soft or mental midget.... Ryan's just as bad. At least you could play Dwight most of the game. You cant play Ryan. He couldn't help himself
I think he will be 27 in the upcoming season, he was 25 the last time he played in the NBA, but still, 27 isn't too old to bounce back.
It is absolutely mindblowing that Morey did not have to surrender a single future pick to dump Ryan Anderson's contract. That is absolutely HUGE when it comes to future trade possibilities as far as getting another star or 3&D wing player.
I think CP3 and Harden wanted the team done before their trip to the Caribbean--no Banana Boat rides for Ryno. While I'm sure this wasn't the main driver, building team chemistry is important and Harden teaching young Chriss to have some respect for the Beard will be part of the trip. I could be wrong, but I think Chriss has some talent and may respond to the leadership on our team (players and coaches). Knight has a chance to learn from one of the greatest PGs and rebuild his game and reputation. This is both of these players best chances to rehabilitate their games/images. We'll see whether they respond or don't. However, if one of them can contribute a solid 10-15 minutes off the bench then we'll likely all be happy. I also think its interesting we have as many projects on this team, but Morey's MO has been to take chances on projects. If one or two contributes it was worth the gamble. Needless to say, I'm excited for this season and to see how MDA and staff blends this new roster together.
