You know how Ds system bulks up average players stats. Blow them up and trade Chriss if it doesn't fit.
It is a gamble no doubt, but it might pay off, if Knight can recover to play as a backup PG. Let's hope that the Rockets have done their homework properly. I hope Chriss can learn to run the P/R with Harden and CP3. If he does, he could prove to be a good back center to Capela. I like your comments about Melton. I just hope he won't play well against the Rockets.
Easier to dump knights contract. I'm sure harden and Paul can make him shine. Can't say the same about ryno
Sucks losing Melton, but then again he might not get any minutes this season and we are desperate to contend. At least Brandon Knight can take the pressure off Harden and CP, I thought we desperately needed ball handlers judging by last season when Cp or Harden went down. Eric Gordon is not a PG and cannot really dribble
Keeping that 1st Rd pick is a WIN. Period. Some of you are really sleeping on Marquese Chriss. He's a long, athletic guy who has started 124 out of 154 games as a 19/20 yr old. Granted, it was with a subpar PHX team, but the kid will be a great fit with us. Not to mention, we have some good veterans to lead him.
I'm not insanely excited about the trade from a talent perspective, but it's a decent trade. Chriss may amount to something in our system, he is in his 3rd year and has shown flashes. We probably will only need him for 10-15 minutes again, considering how Dantoni loves going small. Knight, he definitely has offensive talent. I don't understand why people talk about his ACL injury as if it were the end of his career. I get that they use to be career killers back in the day, but now-a-days it seems that rehabs have improved tremendously and although he may not be as athletic as he once was, he definitely still has the scoring talent. I feel it's great insurance behind Paul/Gordon/Harden and I'm sure he will get about 15-20 minutes a game. I think it's great having him on the bench. Much better than having Anderson that wasn't doing much anymore. I don't like overhyping summer league standouts like Melton, so whatever.
Thinking: you get a one year audition with Chriss to see if our coaching can bring him up to his draft potential, because we are likely to only have Melo for the one year and we are going to need some bigs (Nene too probably) If he does, it's a steal, if he doesn't you don't offer the team option and move on.
Am I wrong? But we have DEEPEST offense team of all time? Either Melo or Knight is our 5TH! Best option!!!
