This trade is nothing short of a win. Getting rid of Ryno, who would never see the court next season, human victory cigar. For a great veteran backup PG in Knight, albeit an expensive one, $5M less pear year than Ryno. Plus, a very young and raw big prospect in Chriss that could absolutely flourish for us off the bench. And to top it off we're not sending out a single future first round draft pick?! Please explain how sending out Melton (a second round pick that hasn't played a single NBA minute yet) with Ryno is not a steal for the Rockets.
In Maury we trust But the fear is DAM could turn out to be a star and we may look back in regret. Hope not.
Chriss is going to be big for us backing up Capela. He is young, energetic, athletic, runs the court well, can shot from outside, and protects the rim. Nene might not see the court much this season.
I think they want to be a better team this year and Ryno can start for them and get some buckets. Chriss and Knight aren’t apart of their future plans at all and Melton is a nice prospect... overall a fair trade for both sides
The way I look at it, we should be better than last year. Melo gives us more than Ryno. Chriss gives us more than Brandon Wright. Knight gives us more than Joe Johnson.
Some of you guys are acting like we just traded away the number one pick in the draft... Melton’s best case scenario is Patrick Beverley and he’s probably 3 years away from getting to that. Props to Morey for finding a guy late in the draft that actually has some value.
Am I the only one who doesn’t see extreme upside to Brandon knight. Dude is a 14 ppg typical scorer given he’s healthy Great bench support and excellent insurance
This off-season absolutely sucks. Melton was the one move I really liked and he is gone as well. Ugh.
That's because you still haven't accepted the fact that we don't have anywhere near the assets to trade for a star. The Lakers or Celtics can outbid us for any star any time. If you're hoping for Jimmy, of course you'll be disappointed. But if you open your eyes and accept that truth that we've already cashed out any upside assets we had to get to where we are today then you'll see the beauty in this trade. At least Chriss has a chance to appreciate in value and might actually be a trade piece in the future.
Damn, man..You hate everything. The dude you loath is finally gone and you still can't find joy in that.
Meh, both players probably wont be on the roster by the next season. Chriss - We dont take the team option if he isn't traded by February. Knight - gets traded by Feburary probably I mean I get it we got rid of Anderson, but Knight is done and Chriss will probably play himself out of the league. Trade is a wash for me.
Anderson's contract reminds me of my 20G in student loans. It was an awful feeling knowing that I had to give up my Christmas Melton bonus(5G) to reduce my long term (Anderson) anxiety by 25%. Before, I would delay payments because it seemed overwhelming, but by paying, I made the monthly payment less daunting to chip away at. Hypothetically, last summer NY would probably accept a Brandon Knight package instead of Ryno. The end result is debatable(Carmelo today at minimum), but in retrospect Carmelo may not have gone 0-9 from 3 in game 7. Melo hits 3-9 and we might be champs. I know this wasn't a home run, but it was a single. Apologies for the loan analogy, maybe some here get it.
