I think Morey just did it to mix things up. Might be some growing pains in the short run, but in the long run I think it helps us.
I think we should have got Courtney Lee from Orlando. I know Orlando is really high on him, but the trade would make more sense then. Also, the rockets should have traded Luther to Orlando in the deal.
Typical clutchfans...you complain for 3 seasons about Rafer's inconsistencies and bad play, then you flip out when we get rid of him and his contract. DM knows what he's doing
this is definately not a cost cutting move. Cook has a player's option which he will exercise most likely. Then we're paying pretty much the same for Lowry as Alston. Cook is trash and we have better people in his position Scola/Landry.
His contract is more valuable next year, and for some strange reason the staff still thinks Tmac could play this year......ROFLMAO.....whatever. DD
Damn, Cook actually has a player option and not a team option after this season! There goes that reasoning for the trade.
At this point I think we have to say the trade was Alston for Lowery. End of starement. Apparently it is not about other players, a subsequent trade, money, contracts or 2010. About 30 pages ago someone said Morey has a computer that says Brooks and Lowery is better than Rafer and Brooks. I think that was bang on. As a side thought - what if the issue is not Alston, but Brooks. I like a lot about Brooks but I fear that in the end his defense will be his undoing. Maybe Rocks want a penetrating quick guard who can also D. They saw this as the best chance to get one. I do trust Morey.
Not sure why everyone thinks Rafer is better than Lowry. Does anyone pay attention to PER on this board?
did the Rockets de facto trade a first-round pick for Kyle Lowry? Orlando wanted Alston and gave up Cook and a first- somehow the first had to route thru Memphis for Lowry?
wow i dont like this trade initally but only time will tell. I hate the trade dead line its like christmas morning you dont know what your goinging to get and when you find out sometimes you just wanna take it back. But to rafer good luck in orlando i know he will fit in great there.
Terrible trade. Rafer doesn't turn the ball over and keeps the court spread by being able to hit the 3. Lowery wont' do a better job. Inexplicable. Now we don't have a vetern pointguard for the playoffs. We're first round fodder for sure.
What argument can you guys make a bout Rafer being gone that makes it a bad thing for the Rockets? Look here is the thing Rafer Alston is suppoused to be a PENETRATING PG(he sucks at making layups if you watch basketball you know) he is suppoused to be an EFFICIENT PG(he rarely gets to the line but when he does he hardly makes Free Throws) he TURNS THE BALL over way too much for a guy who really...no *** "really"...NEVER gets easy shots for players. He is suppoused to be a 3 POINT SHOOTING PG(he is really inconsistent mostly to the point that it kills us MOST of the time) he takes ALL STAR type shots where he pulls up with no offense set and 15 to 20 secs left on shot clock(he does this a lot..if you disagree please watch more basketball). Only thing that made Rafer Alston tolerable on this team was his DEFENSE he is good defender in my opinion.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH~~~~~~NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! CRAZY TRADE! ABSOLUTELY CRAZY!
