People don't understand, Morey is a number guy and he has TONS of numbers. Also Rafer's absence wasn't the reason we didn't get past the first last year...Umm YAO MING WAS HURT!
Rockets decided to part with the core of the team and traded for an unproven player. Yep typical move, promise the fans something great and ends with a whimper.
These guys criticizing Lowry have never really seen him play. Rafer suxx. Lowry has NBA talent, and can penetrate with the best of them.
If these players didn't play for a Magic team (who we destroyed earlier this season) and a Memphis team (who are absolutely horrible). They will not play for us. Its simple. And college basketball isn't a good measurement on how good a player is in the nba. reddick? morrison? beasley? I could go on for hours
I dont like the trade but it's not like Rafer an all pro PG either. He get rape by 95% of the PG in the WEST.
Uh...lateral move anyone? Morey had better have something else up his sleeve or we're kinda screwed. Unless Lowry turns out to be a stud PG who desperately needed coach Sleepy's kind of mentorship.
i wanted skip to go but wanted someone decent in return but i guess we will just have to wait and watch....... So who is going to be our starting PG now??
bob (north carolina): Is the Rockets trade a good trade? SportsNation John Hollinger: (3:58 PM ET ) Thinking about how long they've been trying to get rid of Rafer and how little success they've had interesting buyers ... and to get a young PG in return, even one who's kind of rough around the edges? That's a really solid trade. Tian. (Toronto): Do you think that Tmac might be the reason why Rockets gave up Alston for another PG? SportsNation John Hollinger: (4:00 PM ET ) Definitely. If Houston still thought it could win the West it doesn't do this deal. Instead they look toward the future with a Brooks-Lowry platoon.
This is addition by subtraction. Rafer was incredibly inconsistent, even in McShady’s absence. I feel his value is being exaggerated. Sure he’s an All Star passer to Yao, but what about the challenges he has finishing a fast break, penetrating the lane, or consistently knocking down a trey or two for that matter. Sure he has had his moments, but just not enough of those moments.
Morey has pulled off enough head-scratchers in his brief time here for me to give him the benefit of the doubt on this one. Frankly, I don't know that I really understand it -- we had a decent mix at the 1, an older veteran and a younger energy guy who can put the ball in the basket. I'm sure there are reasons for this trade that are not immediately apparent
