Just cap relief for Artest's contract this off-season. Not that he deserves it with his McGrady-like offense at times. I advocated trading Rafer if it meant getting a better PG in return. Lowry is not better and the jury is still out on Brooks.
I like Lowrys game alot. He plays hard and he's explosive. Solid defender and good rebounder for his size. Never been a huge rafer fan. He certainly isnt a guy that is irreplaceable. 32 year old below average PG with a shooting percentage below 40. Not to mention he has an ego and runs his mouth in the media. Why are people so sad to see him go? He was given alot of chances to be the PG here and he never showed he can do it consistantly. Lowry is 22 years old and he can get to the rim. I thought we wanted guys who can penetrate and score. Lowry is way more capable of that than Rafer and hes a scrappy defender.
i like this trade. i think we need a young gun on the point to spark the offense. lowry drives to the basket better than rafer and plus finally give AB a chance to run the floor. defense will be my only concern against deron and cp3. although rafer has been playing well lately, he's inconsistency has been a plague to the team. sometimes taking more shots than yao in a game really ached me. so i will miss him for what he has done, but won't miss his brinking three's. good luck rafer in orlando. hello lowry!
This smells of a salary dump due to the economy. Les probably thinks our championship hopes are doomed so why not doom our playoff hopes as well. Rafer's definitely been an inconsistent shooter, but he's been consistently better when Tmac is not playing (remember, the beginning of the win streak was when Tmac was out). In addition to that, he's been a solid defender, a great floor general (seriously, do any of you remember how bad the turnovers were during the Franchise era - now compare that the Rafer era) and a good scorer when his shot is falling. I don't mind trading Rafer for a real upgrade, but this is definitely not it. If Orlando needs a PG so bad, why are we accepting a scrub (Cook) instead of a player of real value. We've made them much better and made ourselves worse. I haven't watched as many Rocket games this year and now I'm going to watch ever fewer. This trade is crap and what's worse is that management must know it.
I guess this proves what many of us have been saying for years, Alston has no trade value. Essentially, they just dumped him, so another trade involving a PG must be in the works. Otherwise, this makes no sense, which, having watched the Rockets trade and draft for several decades is fairly customary.
Morey's computer told him that Brooks-Lowry is more effiecient than Brooks-Alston. Hopefully he is right.
wth? this trade is ridiculous. why trade your starting pg? even if he sucks, he knows the plays and is a good ball handler. and lowry is another undersized pg. how the hell can we guard big PGs now? not to mention he shoots 26% from 3. and what do get from brian cook? another undersized pf who cant defend?
Well, what another fantastic and exciting trade deadline day for the Houston Rockets. Great moves all around. Best team on paper 4 monts ago living up to its name.
