Our offer was slightly above average compared to what he would receive anywhere else, Houston has no state taxes but also limited $$$ oppprtunities, Melo already had a shoe deal so those Li Ning promotions were a no go.

I think when people say they go to X glamor city for the fame it just means endorsement activities, the more fame you have the more $$$ you make. You also have more access to stuff like high profile parties and the hottest women around, we're lucky Harden thirst is already quenched by the local strip club lol.

I will say that Vince Carter at least seems very content with being a role player and just to still be playing. He is, and always has been, more athletic, which helps too.

PS- amazing to look at Vince Carter’s draft class again. It seems like Michael Dickerson’s career ended decades ago.

This might be the shortest Melo thread ever on the bbs.

True. Sad. I liked Dickerson as a player. As fun as it was acquiring Steve Francis, I was kind of sad not to see him develop as a Rocket. Injuries derailed his career anyway. Alas.

NBL CEO Jeremy Loeliger shot down rumors that the New Zealand Breakers could sign current free agent Carmelo Anthony to a contract.

Somehow this rumor got started on social media and gained some traction, so much so that Loeliger had to refute it in an email exchange with Adam Zagoria. If Anthony, who played just ten games with the Rockets before both sides mutually decided to part company, is to play anywhere in 2019-20 it will be in the NBA. The Breakers did sign one American-based basketball talent on Tuesday however, as projected 2020 lottery pick RJ Hampton announced that he has agreed to a deal with the NBL franchise. The NBL started its "Future Stars" program a couple years ago, which is geared towards helping with the development of young players. Brian Bowen Jr., who lost his college eligibility as part of the FBI investigation into college basketball, was a participant this past season.
