Shumpert also comes with bird rights fwiw, if he plays well we can resign him without using the MLE or a part of it.
Agreed, so get Wayne Ellington or Wes Matthews when they are bought out in a few days. Both of them are similarly useful (that is, bottom of the rotation useful) mediocrities who would not require giving up a 1st.
Not a huge fan of Kanter since he can’t play D and would get killed on the pick and roll. I rather have DJ on the buyout market.
One of the best perimeter defenders in the NBA, having the best year of his career. I really just want 3 tough defenders out of this deadline. 1 down, 2 to go.
Lets Ariza go, picks up Ennis and Shumpert... Could have traded Nene, Ennis and Chriss for Shumpert and kept the first round pick. LOL How long you guys gonna pretend this is about “winning now?”
We have fully purged the team of the rot that was the 4 year, $80M Ryan Anderson contract. Effectively cost us a late first and DeAnthony Melton.
harden had a horrendous elimination game vs the spurs. does his playoff experience not mean much then?
The 3 players the Rockets picked up are clearly miles better than Knight, Chris’s and Clark ( whose still in the rotation). The picks Morey gave up is a money saving move. So overall this is not a bad trade.
Not all that excited about Shump, but let's see how he does. I just want a guy who is a great defender and can hit open 3s. Can you imagine how awesome we would be if we had a guy shooting 45% from the corner?
Why in the hell would they trade us Mirotic? We would most def have to add house or picks to make it happen. Nothing in it for them.... without it.
I agree, Portis was better than our assets. Parker is 20 M team option next season. Still better than what Houston could have done.
As it happens, I was living in NYC the whole time Shump played there, when fans kept hoping that he would finally "get it" and not just run around bumping into screens. And then he was painfully unavoidable on the Cavs during LeBron's time. I've seen a lot of Shump and he passes neither the eye test nor fares well by stats. He's just...fine. A good end of the rotation player. For $11m.
Otto Porter was available for 2nd round pick + expiring + bobby portis yet we made the money saving move. Clearly our goals aren't "win now" more like half-assing it and saving as much money as possible. Don't tell me Shump is better than Porter if we're trying to win this year.
