R2K if you are reading this, do you think you could put a torrent of the game against Utah where Snyder was punking the Rockets and Tmac punked him back on the court?
If you follow John Hollinger's PER (Player Efficiency Rating) stats at ESPN, Snyder is a top 30 SG - in the lower half of that top 30, but it still suggests that he'd be a good bench player on a good team. Here are some relevant PER ratings: Tayshaun Prince: 14.87 Andre Iguodala: 14.86 Shane Battier: 14.73 Kirk Snyder: 14.67 Ben Gordon: 14.59 Bobby Simmons: 13.87 Stephen Jackson: 13.65 Cuttino Mobley: 13.13 You have to wonder about his attitude though. Why else would the Hornets give him up? They could use a backup swingman with JR Smith gone, and he's not expensive.
Are you kidding me? Kirk only played 19.3MPG but Bogans played 32.2MPG. Stat-wise, there is no comparison.
Apparently, the Rockets got Kirk Snyder for the smaller ($1.675M) TPE, cash considerations, and the Hornets' option of SWAPPING 2008 second round picks. Honestly, I didn't even think the Rockets would be able to use the smaller TPE, let alone get someone who could end up being their fifth starter. And they didn't even need to give up a pick. For crissakes, if the Hornets finish with a better record than the Rockets in 2007-08, the Rockets end up not even giving up a pick for Snyder. Great move, CD.
He's not a punk. Now that he's on OUR team that's called "FIRE", got it? We need guys with an attitude a la Mike James.
I would agree that this is a wash at best Bogans - Snyder. In a best case scenario, he'll realize that he needs to get his head right if he wants to last any longer in the league. What a crummy offseason.
im going to call it right now, kirk will be our starter sometime in the season, if not in the start of the season.
He's only a 3rd year player. That would mean he sucked his first year and vastly improved in his 2nd. Your statement is misleading.
Plus, Bogans has consistently posted PERs below 11, whereas Snyder was at 14.67 last year. I think Snyder has a lot more value.
Hornets Trade Kirk Snyder To Houston July 14, 2006 OKLAHOMA CITY - The New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets announced today that they have traded guard Kirk Snyder to the Houston Rockets in exchange for cash considerations and a conditional 2008 second round pick (the Hornets will receive the higher second round draft slot between the two teams in the 2008 NBA Draft). “Although Kirk played a part in our resurgence last season, the recent and impending moves we’ve made this summer would have left him with a limited role,” said General Manager Jeff Bower. “Making this trade gives us the flexibility to continue to make improvements to our team.” Snyder averaged 8.0 points and 2.4 rebounds in 68 games with the Hornets last season. He was originally acquired by the team from Utah in a five-team, 13-player deal on August 2, 2005. “Kirk is a talented player and I think the abilities and athleticism he possesses will make him a good fit for the Rockets,” said Hornets Head Coach Byron Scott. “We wish him the best of luck for next season and for the continued development of his career.” http://www.nba.com/hornets/news/Hornets_Trade_Snyder_13Jul2006.html
A Wash?? did u look at those stats again. Snyder put up the same scoring numbers as Bogans in half the minutes. He has better shooting numbers, and he should have more opportunites with Yao and T-Mac (and i do realize he played with Chris Paul last year). The other stats will probably be even, but If Bogans has averaged 13-14 poitns with those rebounds and assist numbers, we would be praising him and wanting to resign him for 4 years. This is a good trade. We should stop looking for another SG, but give this kid a chance to start. On headcases....Didnt JVG deal with Sprewell?? I think he can handle Synder. Plus judging him by one act is not the best way to determine if he is a headcase. Like the pick up....Now I would really really like Ariza...
Hey, considering how depressed I've been about the offseason, I'll take what good news I can find, and I think it was an excellent move. We can cut him after next season, if he's a headcase, and if he's not, we can retain him. We should have his bird rights at some point, if he blows up. (unlikely, but you never know!)
Actually, it's if the Rockets end up with a better record (which is the much more likely scenario), they end up not giving up a pick since they'll have a lower pick.
The Times-Picayune says that Snyder fell out of favor by performing poorly in Vegas: http://www.nola.com/sports/t-p/index.ssf?/base/sports-24/11525985007660.xml&coll=1
The difference is that Snyder has all the tools to be a very good player (He's Stephen Jackson II in my book), but bogans has pretty much topped out. Besides, I don't see how it's a wash statistically when Snyder played a third less minutes but had much better shooting percentages and barely less PPG.
