??? How is it a watsh.. Give Kirk Snyder Minutes like Bogans and I think it will look alot different..
This is a good move. I think if the Hornets are dumping him because of summer league, they are making a mistake. Maybe he's the type that scores in the flow of the game and not in the Iso-happy summer league. I remember at Nevada that he was a national story for a while along with his teammate Ted Okeson. Back then, his "attitude" was seen as "fire" and it led them deep in the tournament. He can be a poor man's Ron Artest on defense if a fire is lit under him, he's pretty quick for a guy 230 pounds of muscle.
If u read a little bit of the thread, conditional as in in 2008, NO will get the 2nd round pick of whoever picks first between NO and Houston. If Houston has a better record, which we better, then we lose nothing. If we have a worse record, we drop down a few spots in the 2nd round .
This is the first good move by Houston this offseason. Getting Battier would have been a good move too had the Rockets not sacrificed so much to get him. Snyder is a punk but a punk is exactly what this team needs. Plus he can be a punk AND actually ball. He is a tough minded dude who can get into opponent's head. A line of Tmac, Battier, and Snyder actually gives Rockets flexibility. Three mobile players which can be interchanged in 2-3-4 spots. Which means more chances to exploit mismatches on offense. And no more other teams posting our smaller players and exploiting the Rockets. The weak links on this team are clearly Rafer Alston and Juwan Howard. As soon as Rockets can find tough minded role players to play for those 2, they will be contending for the championship. As it stands, in a tight playoff atmosphere, players like Yao,Tmac, Battier, Snyder can hold their own and fight back. Players like Alston and Howard are usually bullied and melt. I wish Rockets could have gotten rid of Howard or Alston's contract to get Snyder. Would have been better than getting him for free.

See, this is the type of low risk move that makes total sense. He is essentially an expiring contract at the very worst. The very worst case scenario is he doesn't work out here after a few months, then he essentially becomes a tradable asset that CAN be aggregated with other players to acquire a bigger piece. With the TE, we could not aggregate it. With an expiring contract, you can aggregate it. So, either he comes here and puts up or he is easily movable as an expiring contract in December. The whole key to Kirk in my opinion is will he bring it on the defensive end? If he does, then he is going to fit in. If he brings it defensively, you know his attitude is checking in okay, and he is talented enough offensively to come around. He's not going to be dominating the basketball on this team. He will have a very clearly defined role from day 1 to get the ball to 111 and wait for the spot up 3's or the slashes to the bucket. Should be very simple and very clear. Either he buys in or he doesn't. If he does......we've got a legit big time player. If he doesn't, we will still march along towards or goal of bringing complementary talent to our roster.
Thanks. That's all I was asking. I didnt know if we traded our pick straight up, or if it was conditional like this.
Agree about Juwan, but he'll be fine as our backup 4, w/ spot minutes at the 5. But why's every1 so down on Alston. The guy dished out 7 assists per game passing to guys like juwan, wesley, bogans, and dike when yao/mac were injured. Give the guy some court time when he's not being called to score and when he can pass to guys who can actually score. He'll give u 10 pts / 8-9 assists / 1-2 steals / a few rebounds.
I find this absofriggin hillarious! This reminds me of what JVG did to Swift, sending him to where he worked so hard to escape, even though it was a terrible move on our part ... just because JVG was so exasperated with him, and telling him "you are less than worthless." JVG had to be very very angry with him to do that deal. I think Scott got so frustrated with Snyder this summer, that he sent him to the team he would have dreaded the most, and now he'll get yelled at non-stop by the guy he disrespected. To shame him more, he was sent off without getting anything of value back, telling him "YOU ARE WORTHLESS!" We actually gain some value for JVG bad rep ... lol I have no idea if he'll be a knucklehead or not, but he does provide young depth at the 2, and if we got him with our lesser TE, the Rockets front office probably picked him up just so we look like we can do a good deal too. I seriously doubt he'll be a starter. But, this also might be an indicator that they will definitely move Head in trade. I'm hoping there are other trade moves we don't know about to come out of the blue, using our other TE or players such as Head, Howard, Alston, Bowen, etc.
Jesus Christ. If Snyder is playing 0.0MPG because he's in JVG's doghouse, I don't care how much talent he has, he's NOT going to put up his "better-than-Bogans" stats then, now is he? And because of his earlier fight with JVG, I'm thinking that Snyder will probably start out in JVG's doghouse from the get-go. So, he's got an uphill climb. Will he be a steal? Because I love the Rockets, God, I surely hope so. Right now, though, the answer is: maybe maybe no
Its not about the numbers. Alston is mentally weak. He makes dumb decisions and melts under pressure. If you want him for regular season he will do fine as a roleplayer. If you have to depend on him to close games out in playoffs, you might as well pack your bags.
This just doesn't sound like JVG to me. I may be wrong, it's just my opinion, but JVG comes across as a guy who has 1 objective: winning. If Snyder shows he has the talent, and the chemistry to fit within this team to win, he will play Snyder. JVG's doghouse with Swift last year wasn't because he didn't like Swift, it was because Swift kept doing stuff that wasn't helping us win.
I think it is a good pickup. I am also glad he has some fight in him. That is not necessarily a bad thing. We need some of that on our team. He might be one of those type of guys that you hate to play against, but love to have on your team. I wouldn't knock him for a couple of incidents ... remember Jason Terry in the playoffs. Let's wait and see.
Alston, if he isn't injured and if 111 stays healthy, is going to push double digit assists per game this year.
If you have to bring in Juwan off the bench, you might as well bring in Juon to play. Atleast Juon wont cost you $2 million a game. Juwan completely disappears when he is used as a bench player. I would rather have the hot dog guy as our fifth guy on the floor handing out junk food to the opposing team.
