Rockets trade D-Mo, Thornton to Pistons for first round pick

Bit of a weird statement, but I guess it's a shot at the Rockets who didn't use him properly which is true though. J.B. and McHale didn't use him right at all and from not playing to starter back to DNPs and 20 minutes the next is not easy for any player.

he's nothing but a shot taker who is a good defensive player. what's there to figure out about him. those comments are merely the pride side coming out of him.

It's a fair assessment. He could help us a lot more than Brewer.

 

No it doesn't...... it tells us that Stan VanGundy will pay a pretty penny for someone he wants.

This "talent" argument gets really old.

The reality is:

He has been in the league for 4 seasons now, is a poor rebounder and shot blocker, has never averaged more than 12 points a game in his career, has never established himself as a long term starter, has had a back surgery, has missed all of the playoffs last year and 80% of this season, including recent time with more back issues......... AND he is going to be a free agent.

He is a solid rotation player when healthy, he wasn't good enough to be a long term starting solution at PF so the Rockets moved him for a #1 pick to a team that isn't even a guarantee to make the playoffs.

These are the type of moves Morey needs to make..... we are not making the playoffs and we are not resigning Motiejunas, so take value and move on.

If the Rockets sign Jones to a market contract I will be mad too, but it is very unlikely.

 

Well Brewer with his head on straight can get you a bit better defense, but Thornton is much better on offense if he's put in a good system. Too bad we won't play them anymore.

It's going to take several contracts to match Howards contract. Doubt Morey does this unless he needed the roster spot for another trade. By Howard. You big immature baby.

 

Top 8 protected is pretty damn good when you think about.

I'm guessing morey is going to package this pick in a bigger deal.

It will take a lot to make it anything more than a 13 or 14 overall pick. The top 8 part doesn't really matter that much.

 

The Pistons are probably making the playoffs so the pick will be nothing worth a damn.
