Their goal was always DMO. SVG wanted him badly. We could negotiate on draft day.

You don't understand how **** this draft is.

For example :in the Bucks forum people are totally fine at throwing away a top 7 pick for someone like Jrue or Rubio because of how this draft sux.

D-Mo was the 20th pick and that's the neighborhood they'll probably get in return.

I can't help but think this move was 3 fold:

    1) Get a pick for a player we weren't going to sign in the offseason

    2) Make room for KD financially and monetarily

    3) Get some cap flexibility for another trade

Good. We need picks, b/c what we have isn't getting us to the promised land. DMO was never going to play much -- that's pretty obvious right. Remember Einstein's definition of insanity?

Thornton would be great as an 8th man on a great playoff team, but for us? Meh, just hurt our draft position.

I'm down with this, especially if more moves are coming.

Planning for the future isn't something GM's that might be fired typically consider. Pretty clear since the Dwight rumors started Morey is safe. As he should be.

Well if there's not another trade coming, this will be like 2 first round picks, the one from Detroit that will be in the 20's and the Rockets get to keep their own lottery pick.

Hmmm I'm thinking about the trade again and I'm starting to warm up to it.

See the thing is with the #pursuit pretty much done and with SVG liking DMo a lot the Rox will most likely lose DMo in the offseason. So talking about DMo like we were gonna keep him around is stupid because Rox would have most likely let him walk. Getting a mid round first pick for a guy who was gonna leave anyway is a good.value move.

She is as good as gone. No more bs about how DMo's often injured self is better than Hakeem. Only poster I've ever blocked.

So glad Charlotte made that trade for Lee. Might help them stay in front of Detroit.

they dumped two years of Varejao and got back almost equal salary on a USEFUL player for a second.

And I would prefer to keep DMO.

Should have done the deal on draft night if DET was going to switch picks with us.

    Could have Winslow right now.

I would have preferred getting Harris in return but I think this trade is fair value.

Dmo is an injury prone PF/C combo who can't rebound, push guys out of the paint or protect the rim. His post game is nice but hardly dominant (though many of you love to portray it that way). On a championship team, he's a 15-20 MPG bench player at best.

Thornton is an undersized streaky instant offense SG who doesn't add anything else in the court.

Assuming Anthony is an expiring contract (if he's not then yes this was a stupid deal), we get cap space and a solid pick.

Maybe Dmo might have netted us more if he had been able to play this year. But his contract was up and the holes in his game (plus the durability issue) meant we had to make a decision now. Better this than losing him for nothing (which is what would happen as I know Morey wouldn't overpay for him or anyone else while the team is in such dire straits).
