There is a big difference between the Suns pick and Orlando's.. I would have rather the Suns obligation rollover to the next year with less protections if they miss the playoffs. Damnit.
Comments from the Suns forum: "Gross." "If this is true, I am going to be superpissed." "oh, not for a 1st rounder! Ugh." "2 of our precious few assets for Aaron Brooks. Why exactly??" "Fail." "Uh, you do not want to hand the keys to the car over to Aaron Brooks." "Aaron Brooks is an OK player, but A: horrible defensively, B: about 30th on the list of PGs I'd want to build our future around c: not a fast-break, pick and roll PG" "...he is not a piece you build around, and he's not going to be worth the contract he'll demand." "What is the point to move Dragic? Yeah, he is down this year, but to give up a pick plus him for Brooks? Why? I would have been fine dumping a pick to dump a bad contract, but I clearly not fine with them dumping a pick for a very average point guard."
Bad bad trade... This was a big mistake. Dragic is good, just not Brooks good. The same trade with Ish in place of AB would have been so so much better...
I'm gonna miss AB. He played some exciting ball in Houston. I've met & talked briefly with him 2 or 3 times. I just processed some stuff for him @ work last week. Gonna miss Battier as well.
who starts at the 3? lowry/dragic/smith martin/lee budinger/jeffries/t-will scola/patterson/ hayes/hill/miller/(yao) all offense, all the time.
Goodbye Brooks and your attitude.. Dragic was phenomenal last year.. He is a true PG.. Am hyped about him.. I am surprised the suns would do that.. Brooks is more of a SG..
I like it. AB is an easy guy to like (when he's not shooting abysmally) but I feel like Dragic is a better team player and will be able to fit his role better, which will be a backup. Congrats to Kyle Lowry. Even though it was basically known for a while now, he now is set as the permanent starter at PG.
Can't trade **** for gold. We weren't paying $9-$10 million Brooks wanted to resign him anyways. Nice PG + first rounder is a very good deal. Brooks destroyed any value he had on porpuse. His ass still got traded. I am happy to see him gone.
If the Suns make the playoffs, their 1st rounder is likely in the 15-20 range. If they miss the playoffs, Orlando's 1st rounder is likely in 25-30 range. Knowing this, I would have preferred that the Suns obligation to send us a 1st rounder carry over to 2012 with less protections. For instance, I'd be much happier if we received the Suns 2011 1st rounder that was: Top 14 protected in 2011 Top 10 protected in 2012 Top 5 protected in 2013 Unprotected in 2014 I don't know if Phoenix would have done that, but that would have made this deal a lot better in my eyes.
