Did Thabeet actually go to Cypress Christian School like it says in the Chron article? I went there for a year during high school, don't think he was there when I went though.

all you guys saying he has no heart and zero brain, just wait until he actually gets minutes please. i'm sure he'll play better with the change of scenery and knowing that he can play an important role.

Did you think the pick would be coming BEFORE 2013??? This was a given. I'm just disappointed that there isn't less protection on it. I'm sure Morey pushed for less protection but couldn't get it.

We'll have to see what happens to this pick over time. If it is not conveyed within 6-7 years, does it become two second rounders? A second rounder and cash?

Why couldn't we have kept Ish instead of taking on Carrol? Or at least sent a 2nd rounder to Memphis instead?

I think trading away one of our only defenders for a bust that is going to rot on our roster for 2 years and a late 1st rounder in 2 years is a disaster.

Initially I thought we would wind up with 3 picks in the 9-15 range this year which is something to work with, but these are easily the least impressive Morey moves to date.

The Grizzlies were high on Ish Smith ever since working him out in their pre-draft workouts.
I'm sure Morey wanted to keep Ish, but Memphis obviously insisted to include him in the deal.

Rockets already had the maximum allowable (15) guaranteed contracts. The trade HAD to be Battier for Thabeet/Carroll for salary cap purposes. So Ish (as the smallest guaranteed contract) would have had to be waived anyway to make room for both incoming players.

Dug this up on Demarre Carroll - he looks like a poor man's Gerald Wallace (with some D-league time):

    Is it, though?

Personally, I don't want to have three rookies on this team next year. And I seriously doubt that any team in the top-3 is going to trade its pick for three guys in the late lottery, so trading up was never going to be a major possibility. And don't even get me started about teams wanting to trade for those picks on draft night.

Demarre Carrolle = 6'8" PF, athletic like everyone else in college sports, 2nd year bench warmer & Draft filler, ok... what kind of contract is this guy on so the Rockets can get him off the roster and make way for draft picks????

Three shots at the lottery and theres a couple bigs I wouldnt mind taking a flyer on: Monte, Vescey.

I really wouldnt mind a 2013 unprotected pick, but what the hell are we going to do with a protected pick.

He makes about a million this year. We have a team option for next year.
