Good, as long as Rockets keep their mouth shuts, Detroit has zero incentive to trade with anybody else, unless they really don't care for any of the top prospects.

Someone get her a coat. It looks cold in that studio.

    (lecherous pause)

Come to think of it, forget the coat.

What if it was #2 and Eric Gordon for #4, 2022 Top 10 protected 1st, Aron Baynes and Rodney Hood?

    1. You still get one of the top four prospects
    2. You pick up another 1st rounder
    3. You get rid of Eric Gordon
    4. You take back expiring contracts
    5. Stone fulfills my glorious purpose of putting Baynes in a Rockets uniform

I feel like people tend to over hype Suggs. If he that good Gonzaga would be the champ and not Baylor. Suggs is a good pick but he is clearly below Cade, Green and Mobley imo.

I take everything I have heard to this point as 90% posturing, 10% fact.

I agree that Ujiri is a very good GM but the Lowry trade was Colangelo's deal the year before Ujiri got hired and the Kawhi trade was simply due to the fact that Leonard's trade value at that time was low and no one really knew how severe his injury was. Ujiri does well when he got assets (e.g. Carmelo, Derozan) to use. Otherwise, his trades haven't been all that one-sided. I mean, the guy once used a 1st round and 2nd round pick in a trade for Justin Hamilton. If anything, Ujiri is good at seizing the moment/opportunity when it presents itself.

Trading back for Suggs and an enormous haul is tempting. He IS the safest pick in this draft IMO. If we didn't already have KPjr, this would make some sense. But, I really want Mobley.

Exactly, too many narrative driven opinions about people in the NBA.

I've been on a basketball-reference binge this week and Suggs' numbers at Gonzaga looks really, really similar to a potential teammate in Houston who went #1 when he was in the draft.

Drafting a rookie because you think they can be a leader for your team on day 1 makes absolutely no sense to me.

Cade is a much safer pick than Suggs

I don't have a very informed opinion, honestly. As a general rule, things like fit and leadership should be way down on the list of priorities when drafting a top lottery pick in my opinion. Obviously, you don't want to bring in a knucklehead, but I assume that's not an issue with any of these guys under consideration.

My boring take is just pick the best, most talented guy available. I'd be happy with any of the top three projected players (Cade, Mobley, Green). Between Mobley and Green -- I think I'd lean Mobley. I like long, defensively versatile players who can present major matchup difficulties.

Hint: Our former GM loved him so much he ended up trading for him. Granted he loved that 2009 draft so much he ended up acquiring 8 out of the 30 1st rounders at some point over a 12 year span.

I really like Suggs, I think there is a good chance that he will be the better pro than both Green and Cade. But sorry there is no way you pass on Mobley for Suggs.
