Brooks might move the needle a little, but that's only because we're running on fumes. $18 million seems like a lot for a guy that's averaged 36% on jump shots (490+ attempts) the last two seasons. Granted, his toughness and reputation would add a mean streak that the Rockets need.

I'm a whole lot higher on bringing in FVV and bringing our PG "experiment" to a close. And can anyone offer a reason why Brook Lopez picks Houston? I don't see how we're offering him anything.

And yet he was the only one besides Dallas on that list that couldn’t get their teams in the playoffs. He isn’t taking your team anywhere significant if he has to be your best player

I can't believe I'm saying this but Kuzma was really really good last season. I'd throw some money at him and see what happens.

Fine with paying FVV the max--for no more than 2 years.

Hard Pass at any price. As many turnovers as assists. Advanced metrics hate his game. Low PER on high usage. Barely positive VORP (.2) last year.
Tari Eason gives you more for way less money.

I like Fred VanVleet, but not for the max. Max contracts should be reserved for players who can carry a team. 3 year 100 million would be my max.

Rockets don’t have to pay max for anyone. They would be bidding against themselves. No one has the cap space to pay VanVleet or anyone else the max.

He won't play for us if we don't overpay, given how much we suck. I don't mind overpaying in average annual value. Isn't my money getting wasted. Just don't want to long of a commitment that prevents us from contending in a few years

Kuz and Prozingis had decent individual stats last year. I was low key tracking the Wiz all last year, it was apparent even by mid season; their individual stats were good. But I'd just caution that it still didn't translate to winning basketball. Was their contract year, they got decent number of shots, as Wizards was pumping up their value, also keeping them happy, so they could extend them. In the end, Wizard was 35 wins last season. Same as the year before when Beal and Westbrook were on the team.

Windows shopping is fine. Kuz (wing), Prozingis (front court) are OK. As far as fit, we're kind of loaded already at the wings. If KMJ is traded, I rather let Tari get the starting nod. If Ime is installing structure, Usman would also flourish as a backup big.

Lookey-look is fine but top priority is still point guard. FVV is asking Zion money at 30m plus. Vet point guards who I'm ok with some overpay if years are shorter like 2 years.

All the aforementioned guys should be above Dillion Brooks. 17m is ridiculous. Not only was he fired from his team; that rumor 17m number is a raise. If people want defense without the shot; we've guys like Tate already. At least Tate is not a locker room headache.

There are other players who can do what Dillion does at cheaper price, the concerning thing is Dillion probably scores high on one of Rocket's internal advance metrics, so they're considering him.

I would try to get Tre Jones from the Spurs. He improved his game looked really good down the stretch of the season.

I like FVV for two years while we get Amen ready to start. Max him for 2 years and NG the 3rd year.

I don’t think FVV takes less than a 3yr deal, but maybe he bites on 3 yrs/$114 mil? Love the idea of Amen learning behind a good veteran for a couple years. Year 3 FVV’s expiring contract would become a trade asset. But I feel like there will be more appealing opportunities for FVV; it’s gonna be competitive.

I mostly agree but he is only 29. If he were a FA again in 24 months, he could get a better 4-5 year deal.

This would be my preferred route if Miller falls to #4, or if the pick for some reason turns out to be Whitmore. Tre could be our point guard of the future. He will never be a star, but he's already a good playmaker and I believe the shot will turn out to be decent (look at his free throw percentage).

I’m coming to terms with all the indications that Amen will be the pick, so adding a starter at the position like FVF isn’t the worst thing in the world.

Let Amen come along slowly while you have a legit pg ahead of him.

Jokic may have lost the battle for MVP to Embiid but he won the WAR.

My only issue with Whitmore is how stocked we are with guards/wings. Gonna have to be big purge if you using a Top 4 pick for a G/F on this team.
