I'm confused. Blair and Dorsey are very different players.

He is realistically only playing 8 minutes a night. So if he plays his ass off with defense and rebounding and ONLY shoots point blank shots, this could be a plus signing.

Come on, he hits over 13% of his shots from 3-10 feet for his career.

People here b****ed about Asik and his bad hands and touch around the rim until he got traded and now he's some sort of All-star center.

They'll come around to Dorsey once he gets traded too.

I think the Rockets gave up on Dorsey a little early. In limited minutes, he was starting to play better and then they traded him. I think this is actually a good addition to the team. He will be a good defensive presence when Dwight isn't in the game.

Maybe since he looks so much like Dwight Howard, players on the other team will get confused and not challenge him at the rim because they think it's Dwight.

Watching the videos from Europe, it looks like he has 'found himself' as a player. He doesnt try to make a lot of post moves or do to much on offense, he sets good solid screens and rolls to the basket. Has good hands and finishes plays at the rim. Thats all we need him for on offense. His hands are better than Asik and he moves better on the roll to the rim.

On defense he looks like he plays physical and goes after shots. Also looks to be a good help side defender. It will be interesting to see how he has grown over the past 5 years. He is a vet at this point.

I think off the court issues played a part in him getting traded. A problem that's stuck with him even in Europe.

Let's also have some perspective here. Asik (who is clearly a superior player) had a cap figure of $8.4 million, while Dorsey has a cap figure of $948k. At the veteran's minimum salary, I think it is only fair to keep one's expectations of Dorsey to realistically low levels. Some defense and rebounding is all he'll likely be good for. Anything else is gravy. Hell, even the defense and rebounding might make him a bargain at that price.

While I agree that the Rockets were likely about to give up on Dorsey anyway, his inclusion in the trade for Kevin Martin was, in part, by necessity IIRC. I think he needed to be thrown in to match salaries so that Sacramento could dump Hilton Armstrong's salary on us - part of the reason the Kings would give up the best player in the trade.

He's a nice piece to fit around Harden and Howard.

Clearly? How do you know? Dorsey hasn't been playing in the league. We'll see this season. Omer was a liability on everything. Including catching the ball, dunking, making offensive decisions without freezing and panicking. Dorsey is much more physically gifted.

Am I the only one who doubts that European ball solved Dorsey's biggest issue - foul trouble?

Euro ball is different and in some ways more physical than the whistle-happy NBA; I don't think Dorsey is going to translate back to the American game well.
