Not too familiar with James Anderson but signing him after indications of signing Beverly doesn't make sense to me. Is Anderson much of an upgrade over Cook? And even if he is, what role does he play, already plenty of guards on the time filling the minutes. Just wish with all these recent moves, would like to see the Rockets get some better bench guard talent to back up Lin and Harden vice the current situationth Douglas, Delfino, Machado, and now Beverly and Anderson. Wish there was another Courtney Lee and Goran Dragic type of young talent out there. Rockets are much more set with backup bigs than guards and wings.
To me this is the more interesting ramification of adding what seems to be unneeded depth on the wings. "Is anybody getting dealt?"
I imagine it would be hard to find a taker, though it obviously only takes one. At this point I'm not sure flying is the main issue with White, but perhaps one of the low travel mileage teams might be more inclined to take a flyer on him: Spoiler http://vorped.com/blog/2012/11/15/w...-look-at-travel-statistics-for-each-nba-team/
Either that, or Morey's PF fetish has shifted to guards. Make some room! (Expect 7 to 8 more short guys).
He's an Okie State boy! So I know his game... If you guys don't know, he was their 1st round choice and had a lot of high hopes to eventually become Manu's replacement because he could shoot it wet and had solid athleticism. He got some solid games and production in (shooting and , surprisingly, on defense) and he was right on with what they were expecting. But then he got injured and was out for practically the whole rookie year. Then of course Gary Neal came in and basically pushed Anderson out of the lineup. Basically Dequan Cook with better defense and decent dribble drive game and decent finisher and athlete. Hopefully he can see time and show he has a lot to offer still (still very young and rather raw asides from his on point shooting ability)
Oh, and he has very good basketball IQ. There was a reason he broke all sorts of record at OSU as a Fresh and was a leader from the start alongside Byron Eaton
Anderson has potential to not suck. Cook doesn't even have that potential. The Rockets would rather run Parsons to the ground with 40+mpg on nights when another wing is injured, rather than playing Cook a lot. That's all you need to know about him. I'm just surprised someone like Anderson is still around. It's surprising how quickly teams just give up on on players.

Oh, and don't forget what this could mean for Delfino. James is a VERY good shooter and a much much better defender than either Delfino or Cook. If he gets an opportunity and peforms well for a game or 2, dont be surprised if homeboy makes an impact!
probably a trade is in the works, i hope royce white is shipped to another team, aldrich, cook, machado, one has to go as well as they haven't paid dividends as of late
Maybe be a contender trying to deal for Delfino, given his contract and production, and the Rockets are signing Anderson to replace him.
